The New Zealand Rugby Union admits it could potentially lose All Blacks first-five Dan Carter at the end of the year.
NZRU professional rugby manager Neil Sorenson said on Tuesday that the likes of Carter, Jerry Collins, Mose Tuiali'i and Nick Evans could all go to overseas clubs.
Sorenson has tried to play the impact down, saying there is light at the end of the tunnel and they just have to adapt.
Swimming against the tide

He said 13 years into a professional sport the landscape is changing and they are doing their best to battle it.
Carter, Collins, Tuiali'i and Evans are all off contract at the end of the year.
This news will again spark the debate over the All Blacks eligibibility criteria, which insists that overseas-based players are not available for selection for the national team.
This has led to many players, most recently Rico Gear, Doug Howlett and Carl Hayman, being off-limits to All Black selectors while still in the prime of their careers.

The fact thats its all blacks shouldn't go past the point that now players who are young and exceptionally talented are leaving countries for larger pay checks, although Carter says the pressure is too great, which i can understand, the ARU and NZRU are losing high quality players to larger pay even against the lure of representing their country. these two unions need to do something, whether its change the rules so that players overseas can play test, or by making the clubs private to raise salaries, or allow international players into the S14, something needs to be done fast.
