Player Market Frenzy

Just heard on the radio that Inglis and White have been released from their contracts by the Storm.

Now there's going to be some hysteria over these two. We should see if we can help some teams.

Say team A needs to release Player A and B to make way for Inglis, maybe we could waltz in and offer unders to give them the minimal amount of help possible. There's a good possibility that there could be some good players being pushed out while teams try and make room for these two.

White should slot into Canberra without too much trouble. The Broncs may well have to let someone go - Masters' article is interesting, though, I think, overblown. Who would we want from there though?

White is locked to Canberra and with Logan & Thurling probably retiring and Galea looking at being released it does not require alot of player movement.

GI is headed to Brisbane and no players need to be released as Simms is already going elsewhere and the rest is covered by Israel leaving and the extra room in the cap

Yep that about sums it up Gronk

We can wait until the Panthers release some of there reserve graders that we can pick them up from the dumpster. I'm sure Ronald McDonald is already looking at the contracts of Purtell, Sandor Earl and Frank Puletua

I'm sure we will find a way to bring back Galea for next season. That will be our contribution to the player market frenzy.

If you believe what you hear, Bret and the magpies teams are going to take a hit from a few clubs. Iam hearing the Storm are looking at a few of our fringe players that are never going to get a look in under Sheens. If this true Ronald will be working overtime looking at whats available from the Penrith feeder club might even pick up a couple of the Sharks rejects. Expects some big news in the next few weeks

WT recruitment a cannily waiting for the frenzy to die out and then feast on the aged and infirm left in the bargain basement of unsigned players.

They dont need halfbacks or props, so why join the mob? They want more second rowers and average backs.

But then even if Sheens walks away at seasons end, the new coach will have no time or money to go out and buy a select player or two. Way too late for that.

I have heard we have no money under the cap for next year. What happened to recuirting one rep qualitly player every year? We had Ellis 2 years ago and Lote this year. I for one will be ticked off if we don't release Fitzy, Cayless and others to at least sign 1 rep standard player.

Unfortunately Luke Covell retired but we are going to try and nurse Steve Simpson through next year with his rehab.

I'd say the following players have a good chance of being out or go for various reasons:

Cayless
David Fifita
Fitzhenry
Lazarus
Moors
Tuiaki (although whisper us that he may be re-signed on a reduced contract)
Tupou
Mataka
Alan Shirnack
Jason Shirnack
Flanagan (competing with Fulton for same role, may return to England or stay)

and..................

hopefully Sheens too.

Sheens has said the club will sign a rep player again for next year, he was just waiting to see how the youngsters step up to see what type of player he gets....

Probably why Lui is given first choice- give him a fair crack, if he makes it buy a prop, if not we buy Michael Monaghan ....etc etc....

I'd get rid of - I mean move on
Cayless
Fitzhenry
Lazarus
Tuiaki
Flanagan
Mataka
Payto
One of Brown or Ryan

I cannot see WT under Sheens signing a quality halfback in any circ's. After all the statements he has made about traditional 1/2 and 5/8 roles not being used etc that would be a massive backdown that I cant see the egotistical one making of his own accord unless there is a gun at his head.

I don't think that would mean he wouldn't want a quality player in the 7.

Lui finally showed something and played well.

But you can't argue that prior to this match he was poor and seemed over awed.

It is gonna be a much better week.

Go the Tigers.

Bubbles is happy.
