Player Market Frenzy

Lui is defensively terrible, and downright lazy in support play, and is as slow as a wet week. One try does not change this.

Lui is sh*t. The worst half I've seen.

Defensively he is just pointless, stands flat footed, which is a very bad thing for any defender to do, let alone someone as short as he is. He grabs at arms or shoulders, he doesn't lead with his shoulder in tackles. He approaches from the side, grabbing and flat footed, meaning he gets brushed aside all too easily.

In attack, he again offers little. He only has one purpose, he passes the ball to Benji, who can play at second receiver and have some more room. That's all he does.

His movement is slow and predictable. He has no acceleration or speed. He doesn't run at the line with any purpose.

He really is a sh*t player in every aspect. I'd even take Joe Williams over him. That's how bad he is.

Agree with Mr Bubbles 100%- he is taking his time settling in but is his D any worse than Benjis was in his first year??

He is a 19 year old kid playing 7 instead of 6. And with Benji and Robbie in the side how many times is he going to get the ball when a decent chance is on.....he is 3rd choice playmaker and had a great game...lets hope he can keep it up...

Dont disagree but I'm assuming / hoping that Lui is behind Moltzen is Teflon's plans for 2011 with WT for a halfback. I'd be happy if Lui is backup half for 2011. Anyway, for better or worse Lui will be WT halfback for the remainder of the 2010 season and all that implies.

Moltzen is injured so no real alternatives spring to mind bearing in mind the drills ingrained into WT style of play- no half from the lower grades can be expected to know the drill at this stage of the seaosn. The Waters experiment was not a success (as much as you judge on 1 game).

I reckon the big question mark is TnT's future. The supposedly hot rumour of him signing with Parra has not been officially confirmed anywhere, same as him signing a reduced WT contract.

Perhaps it isnt much worse, but there are a few major differences. Benji showed brilliance in other areas of his game and also suspect shoulders would have hampered his confidence in defence. Benji also showed desire and enthusiasm, something that Lui with everything ahead of him if he wants it has failed to show. Chris Lawence was a terrible defender as we all know but his hunger to develope and succeed changed all that... I want to see Lui show some of that hunger.

I think its a bit rich sitting on the side line questioning a players hunger, Lui is a lay back sort of guy it dosnt mean he hasnt got hunger or enthusiam. We dont know what his work ethic is like at camp Concord or his desire to improve. Yes his defense is suss and he dose seem to switch off at times but he may be busting his guts out to fix that part of his game--we dont know. Iam willing to give him the same latitude I gave Benji,Moltzen, Lawrence and a whole lot of other players when they first hit the big time and lets face it he is playing no7 with Benji and Robbie trying to run the show--would not be easy knowing when its up to you or to sit back and let the others run the show.

But back to the player market--the bloke I would love but he is rumored to be off to Souths next year is Nightengale from the dragons. Great winger/fullback, rip tear sort of player

No-one yet indicated by WT as being on their radar or keen to have in gold, black and white guernsey but seesm to eb the same old, same old- WT need some more depth with props (I'm assuming even Skando cannot be resurrected for any time in 2011), if TnT is out of WT calculations another winger, someone who can kick a goal as replacmenet / backup for Benji and thats about it.

I'm assuming Moltzen and Lui will be at WT for the number 7 role and McKinnon the fullback. Backrowers- plenty of them, backline depth OK.

It would be interesting to see who is on the meat market now. Telegraph did an article some months ago just after the Storm illegality blew up saying something like there were 100 plus players in limbo for 2011 until the Storm situation was resolved. Wonder who is left or maybe a prop from ESL?

Enthusiastic players dont look and play lazy , and hungry players put their bodies on the line to make tackles.

Darren Lockyer and Brett Hodgson are both very laid back guys.

That argument for Lui thus is pretty null.

Guys look at the scores in the U 20's not many of the 'kids' can tackle and it is a reason that many are pushing for the age to be raised or bring back a legit reserve team.

On top of that you bring in a kid from the bush/islands, where is he from anyway? and expect his to out perform the Kiwi captain who plays outside him, I don't think so.

Give credit to the kid, unless you all know his brief, I believe he is there to have a run occasionally but 8 times out of 10, leave it to Marshall & Farah.

Now some will say but Moltzen could do it but forget that Moltzen played half like he was still playing fullback, even McKinnon could play half for the Tigers the same way as Moltzen.

As for the others, they didn't give Lazarus a fair go so perhaps all of the coaching team saw something in Lui that the experts here, didn't.
