Hi lads
Am I on the right track?
Michael Witt:
Alternate nicknames: Half, Smithy
Famous for: Being seen as the saviour of the ongoing Paramatta half back soap opera that has run since Peter Sterlings retirement in 1992. Yet another promising player to tell Brian Smith to sit and spin.
Key attribute: Its early in his career but he has enjoyed some fine games in the yellow and blue where he has shown solid defence an impressive kicking game and the ability to run with the ball out in front in two hands, occasionally creating doubt in the minds of the opposition.
Key weakness: He arrives with a question mark over his ability to perform as an attacking lynch pin and to organise a side in attack.
What wed like to see in 2005: Settling in quickly to a solid combination with Michael Monaghan where both share the responsibility of creating the attacking plays and taking the kicks that create opportunities for the side.
If he were an alcoholic drink hed be: Bundaberg Rum. A popular drink with real ability to liven up a party but also the risk of creating discontent.
What would other clubs think of him if he were theirs: A player of potential that might need the odd bit of kid glove treatment to realise his best.
Matabeles view: I liked what I saw of him in 2003. As a young half back thrown into the breach he did some good things behind a beaten pack and certainly tried hard in defence. 2004 may not have been what he expected but I think he is a good signing to replace the recalcitrant Walker. His goal kicking ability is an additional bonus.
Matabeles rating: Heart 5/10
Ability 8/10
Importance to the side: 8/10
Injury record: 8/10
2004 performance: 5/10
Total 34/50
