The 2024 Panthers do not need mere numerical ratings.

2024 was about gears and they should be evaluated accordingly.

Edwards - Only knew top gear before getting injured in Origin 3. Gradually shifted back to it game by game leading into the grand final.

Turuva - The cogs were rusty all year before meshing late.

Alamoti - Ratios were all wrong at the Dogs. Transmission was purring by the finals.

Tago - Stuck in reverse until the finals. Must have discovered that clutch pedals are real after doing some research online.

To'o - Transmission looking a little worn this season. Still did a job before a cog took some damage in the GF.

Luai - Either lowest or highest gear during the season. Thankfully mostly in the highest.

Cleary - High performance low durability transmission. Was serviced and ready to go when it mattered.

Leota - Only wants to change out of first on the final straight.

Kenny - Changes were less slick than expected given improvement in 2023. Clunky but the cogs were always spinning.

JFH - Had just enough grip on the teeth before being tranferred to a lower performance vehicle.

Martin - see Leota

Sorro - making horrible noises and sounds like the transmission is about to fall out. Still made it to the destination.

Yeo - Is direct drive and doesn't need gears. Power is consistent and available at all times. Has both economy and performance modes that can switch at any time.

Schneider - knows everything there is to know about the inner workings of transmissions. Doen't know how to drive though.

Garner - Added new gears this season.

Smith - Like a 90s Corolla five speed. Gets the job done.

Henry - On his Ls, grinding the gears all season.

Yeo's is wrong, his is a gearbox that used on most jet airplanes and submarines, no grinding, just sitting in god mode on autopilot

Im not going to do them in depth all but just mention a few.

Yeo - 9.9 - as close to a perfect season as you will see from a player.
Luai - 9 - Given the circumstances he stepped up wonderfully and then slotted back into his usual role for the finals with Nathan back.
Dyl 9 - He has been a 9 for at least the last 3 years.

Lindsay - 8 - Kicked on after a rock solid rookie year.
Henry - 8 - Rock solid rookie year
Fish and Leota - 7 - each of them were below their best for most of the year. Showed up when it counted though.
Bizza - 7.5 - was quiet for parts of the year when compared to his best. Showed up with his best in the finals.
Kenny - 8 - possibly controversial to some but besides 1 or 2 games where he couldnt pass threw a barn door he was a rock.

Basically everyone else 7 besides tago and turuva who ive got at 5 and 6 respectively.

Nathan when he played was 8 or better but didnt play enough. Garner also was probably an 8 across the games he played but missed a lot.

Yeo - 10!!!
Every other player - 9.5 because they all played out of their skin when it mattered to win us 4 comps in a row!

And if they can do the same thing next year some of them will need to work out if they can fit a ring on their thumb.

Dyl -10 pre his Origin injury, 7 after. He was outstanding to start the year.

Bizza - 8.5 the best winger of all time did his thing.

Tago - 4 his defence and discipline was awful all year. How he and the coaching staff were able to sort these issues in the finals was incredible but it makes his week to week efforts look even worse.

Alamoti - 7 he's a stud. How one of the most highly rated juniors across the whole sport was discarded by Gus after 1 average season as an 18 year old shows he's not the rugby league oracle some think.

Turuva - 6 up and down season but came good when it mattered.

Luai - 8.5 stepped up in most games while Nathan was out. Showed he can be a regular NRL halfback.

Nathan - 10 in the games he actually played but I guess a 6? Overall. Clearly took his game to yet another level.

Leota - 5 had a very average season doing very little to help Yeo in the middle. Lifted for the finals but a super disappointing year.

Kenny - 7 defended like a madman as always but his service wasn't great at a few points during the season

Fish - 6.5 started the year very poorly but improved as the year went on after sorting his move back to NZ. Might be on the decline and although it's sad I believe we did need to get either his or Leota's contact off the books.

Sorro - 5 stop start year so he never really got going. Garner has surpassed him for the starting spot imo. Hopefully on the bench next year

Martin - 4.5 a low score due to playing injured all year. Fired in the finals and for NSW he showing he's a nutter who loves the big occasion but he should have been sat out to recover. As amazing as he was in the finals he did very little to help us make the 8.

Yeo - 10 the best forward in the world and the best lock since Brad Clyde. I'd leave my wife and kids for this man.

Garner - 7 I love this bloke, works his arse off and runs great lines. Hopefully he can stay fit for 2025.

Casey - 7 pretty much jumped from Flegg to the NRL in a single season. He's already the best defensive centre we have and will be a f**king superstar.

Huth - 5 tries hard but doesn't have the strength or speed to play regular first grade. A great bloke to have around the club but hopefully doesn't see and NRL footy going forward.

Schneider - 6 gets a lot of hate from people but they really have no idea. Filled his role well, he's a backup half.

Smith/Henry- 7.5 both stepped up and really carried Leota and Fish at points this year. Both are already better starters than Spencer that's for sure.

Trent - 5.5 didn't really get enough minutes to tell us much but he's clearly a much better option then Soni Luke.

Most ratings in here are pretty close I'd say.

I'd just stress Cleary gets a 9.5 or 10. It's a weird evaluation for a guy who only played 13 games. But in the ones he did play he was absolutely outstanding. I'd rate it close to the best form he has had in his entire career.

Likewise Luai. The talk on him for a while has been that he can't lead a team without Nathan Cleary. My count is 7 wins from 10 games for Luai without Cleary in 2024. I'll be very interested to see how the Tigers go now that they have two marquee spine players in Luai and Korisau.

Player ratings are great fun if really very subjective.

I think given the way things eventuated everyone deserves a 10/10.

A truly outstanding achievement, to win four consecutive grand finals in this era is just amazing.

I take my hat off to Girds for his original assessment, posting on his phone, that is a truly amazing achievement

I can only make one sentence posts on my phone, anything more than that is beyond me.
