Did you even read the shit you posted?

I misinterpreted it as any player in the top 25 could get 5 cars.

Which in hindsight is a lot of cars. I only have a scooter and a 10-speed bicycle.

Thanks for pointing out my error in such a constructive way.

Id assume that with a price tag under $20k, most clubs would give cars to young and upcoming players to help them out. I can't quite imagine Sam Burgess or JT driving around in a Kia Rio

They don't have to spend the $20K on buying a car outright.

Most I would imagine would be lease arrangements, so up to $1600/month or thereabouts per car. That would cover the lease payments quite comfortably on any car up to about $100K or so sticker price.

They are going on about being partners but I doubt they have considered what that entails. They'll have to start considering all aspects of the game from crowd figures to grass roots nationwide.

But the problem is no one will ever call them out on it because it would be seen as harsh and not in the players scope. Yet it's fine for them to make these statements in the press.

yet is just as, if not more, popular than Rugby League

why?

you can stick your head in the sand and blame media, the CEO etc whatever

or just accept Rugby League is a niche sport with a few million fans that has reached its ceiling

which we happen to enjoy

I think this is true to a certain degree - the violent as well as the attritional nature of the game means that it's simply not going to be everyone's cup of tea, especially when contrasted to the more open and high-scoring nature of Aussie Rules.
But that just means that the NRL and the clubs need to work a little harder to attract the casual/nascent fan - which they're frustratingly neglecting to do whilst the AFL is constantly on the front foot jumping-in at any even miniscule opportunity to promote itself and attract new fans.

the more they do to attract the "casual" fan the more the hardcore base rails against it

and that is what the administrators struggle with

and that is why even if we purists think Origin is the greatest spectacle on Planet RL we must disguise our fervour in a cloak of scheduling disgust . . . the need to appease the 'casuals' and the media that pander to them at the expense of the 'permanents' is irrational

I think it's easy to assume that all football players are meatheads, who need minders to wipe their asses from us. It's easy to assume that as the few players who are like that get huge media attention when they muck up. But there seems to be just as many, if not more, players who help out with grassroots, visit schools and hospitals, are intelligent and have a genuine love for the game and want what's best for it.

I wasn't saying they are meatheads or anything.

The ten metre rule is a disaster and needs to be changed.
It is responsible for the ruck problems we have now such as wrestling and arbitrary penalties and the general issue that speed of the play the ball is easily the most important/influential thing in the game - yet something no fan really cares about. Its not good for a game to be decided by things fans dont care about.
The other thing wrong with 10 metres is all the free territory a team gets gifted for essentially playing safety first boring football.

I believe most fans adjust to the rules of the day. Are the rules of today perfect? No, but they have never been. So can some of the rules be changed? Possibly, but you would have to be careful on what rules you do. Otherwise the game ceases to be Rugby League.

But plenty in here are.
The players want to take a more active role in the management of the game, they can't be any worse than the people currently in charge

Are people calling them stupid or meatheads?

I'd suggest they are perhaps guilty of being a bit naïve. They are being led by the noses by the RLPA.

The players are being fed what to say and with the exception of a few, most would have a cursory idea what it's all about.

Get Freddy to ask them what the details are in post match interviews this weekend.

Operational management is completely different to corporate governance and long term sustainability of an organisation.
