I think James Roberts will end up in this category. A player that coud have been anything, but a mixture of injuries and off field discretions have set his career back.

Farahs biggest problem has been that he has played without a genuine halfback for all but 4 years of his career. He has had to be the hooker, main defender, organiser and main play maker in the team. I don't argue that smith is better then him. However if they had of played at each other's clubs for their entire career things could have been viewed differently
