A. Schefter:

The NFL admitted to the Detroit Lions on Tuesday that officials missed a blatant hold on Ndamukong Suh on a crucial fourth-down conversion from Tony Romo to Jason Witten with six minutes left in Sunday's wild-card game.

The conversion happened after the disputed Brandon Pettigrew play and before the Cowboys' go-ahead touchdown.

Had holding been called, it would have put the Cowboys in fourth-and-16 on Detroit's side of the field. Dallas likely would have punted and Detroit still would have had the lead.

NFL head of officials Dean Blandino said Monday that the non-call on pass interference against Pettigrew by Cowboys linebacker Anthony Hitchens was debatable, but holding definitely should have been called on the play.

Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford wore a microphone for Sunday's game, and the audio will air Tuesday night on "Inside The NFL" on Showtime.

"Can we explain that or no?" Stafford reportedly said after the officials picked up the penalty flag on the Pettigrew incompletion. "Just flat-out overturning a pass interference call?"

Stafford later could be heard yelling, "Hooome cookin!"

That call really casts a big, dark shadow over the NFL and the integrity of the officials but there have been many such calls over the years. The tuck rule call against the Raiders (v Patriots) comes to mind as does one Hochules called against the Chargers when Cutler was the Broncos QB.

However, when you have the chief of officiating seen partying with Dallas management the night before the game, this one reeks to high heaven!

Ron,

I rather enjoy Manning's interviews and his commercials. I think he is a gracious winner and loser and expects a lot of his team as he has an extremely high work ethic but is not immune to accepting the blame when he plays poorly.

His first interview as a Bronco was all class, especially when he explained how he handled getting his number 18 jersey from Frank Tripucka (sic).

That wasn't the night before the game, that was during the off season.

But it's strange how Murray turned from an ok rb into the second coming of Jim Brown and the Cowboys oline turned from one of the worst to maybe the best in the league. Alot of holding seemed invisible to the refs.

I'm talking about Brady's pass. It should have been ruled a fumble, not an incompletion.

Same will happen next week for the colts - watch the same shit happen like it normally does when Denver and manning play the colts. There is no way, none whatsoever in a million years, no chance in the world, none none none that colts win next week - no way in the worldddd

ronny is going to have a hell of a clean up bill at the end of that game

It was a clear hedge though hahah
This way had Manning won he'd be like "so what, I said they would" and if they lose "omg, how shit is manning! Couldn't even beat the colts!!! Whip it out, Tom! I'm ready!!"
