I hope this action forces PNG to go with different colours from their national team (given the super rugby chiefs use the same colours) and obviously the logo imagery will be different.

Pretty sure Hurricanes Super Rugby club is older than the Hobart Hurricanes to be fair.

Hmm.. isn't that South Island Kea bid lining-up a similar green (or teal) and orange colourset?

Mind you, nothing to stop PNG getting in first and forcing a re-think for NZ 2.

Its a good set of colours, regardless of who claims it. Nice on the eyes, and certainly distinctive in the competition.

Someone's surely got to use it.

Yeah, between the PNG club possibly wanting to use something different to the Kumuls, Kea bid wanting to use the colours of a Kea, and possible Brisbane Easts bid (with or without Ipswich), Orange or Orange & Green could be in some demand from the expansion wave after Perth.

Not bad, given green and orange are pretty under-represented colours in the competition.

Hope they didn’t file it in the same place that the Perth Reds Cumins bid ended up …

If the branding (colours & especially logo) are different to the Super Rugby Chiefs, I'd say the NRL & PNG Chiefs will be fine.

The danger is if they veer close on those two aspects.
