Honestly look how much NZ struggles to get players to Auckland. A PNG NRL team would not look too much different from the current PNG Hunters.

The team would primarily have to be made up of local, homegrown players with the better ones perpetually being snatched away by the more attractive NRL clubs (sounds a lot like my team the Tigers lol).
The only way that I could really see them being able to attract established players from abroad would be if the PNG Government were onboard and offered them some sort of tax incentives to come and "work" there. If they had the full salary cap to work with (and you'd imagine that they wouldn't be breaking the bank for their local players) it's not inconceivable that they could offer some pretty enticing contracts for players to at least consider. Throw in some tax benefits and you might be able to lure a few decent players over for a 2 year contract here and there.
I've had a few mates over the years who have worked in short stints (usually 1 or 2 year contracts) either in the mines or asylum seeker centres up there, it's a tough gig but the money was insane. After two years in the wilderness they were back with their mortgage practically paid off and were financially set up.
There are some pretty superb surf spots up there too ;)

I can actually confirm this.

And knowing what corruption is like up here sometimes, there wouldn't be a shortage of brown paper bags of money given to any players who come up here. Players could live of these money for day to day expenses in PNG while their actual monthly salaries remain untouched and accumulating.

What we should promote players getting paid outside of the salary cap?

If the place is as corrupt as you say it is, there is no way they should get a licence

They wont.
They wouldn't be able to sign a team, wouldn't be able to generate, and hold on to, enough local talent to fill the roster, wouldn't be able to generate the $15mill revenue a year needed and would somehow have to convince the Australian TV partners that they added some value to them whilst overcoming the pain of TV covering their games in Port Moresby
Then they'd have to convince a very risk adverse NRL they were a safe bet and show some security they could afford to be sustainable and had something to fall back on in hard times.
Its a pipedream. A nice pipedream but one all the same.
The NRL should do the right thing now and tell them to stop wasting their countries scarce resources on chasing pipedreams.

Unrealistic is expecting Perth has a chance at an nrl team in the next decade without linking with the bears

literally the bears will decide who gets team 18 lol
It’s been thought the Bears were a sure thing before. They started selling foundation memberships for their entry as the CC Bears in the 2010s, that’s how confident they were. It didn’t happen, they’re no guarantee of being offered anything.

I’m stating the reality of the situation; it’s been thought that they were a sure thing before, they weren’t and they aren’t this time either.
Did a bears fan sleep with your girl or something ?

like your hatred isn’t rational lol

Numb nuts I’m just responding to peoples replies

it’s funny I think he hates the bears as much as you. Well before they wanted to become the new Perth team

This is what started your most recent derailment! You're not responding at all, you're constantly mentioning other bids in the wrong threads. PNG in WA Bears threads, Bears in PNG thread. You must try harder lol.

I think bringing the Bears back is fine under the right circumstances, eg a Swans-style complete relocation to a different state. A lot of what they have proposed, or chased, is a waste of time though.

Even the deputy pm, a Victorian, strongly supports a png nrl team with Australian govt help
