If PNG gets the licence then I hope it's a huge success. The Hunters have made the Queensland Cup a better competition. I have my concerns about player safety and recruitment, but let's wait and see what happens before dismissing it altogether.
The Queensland cup is the appropriate level for PNG and there’s nothing wrong with it or shame about it.

I honestly wish it was different and that PNG was similar to New Zealand in terms of development and GDP etc but it isn’t and it isn’t going to change in our lifetime.

Thats just his life motto, its engrained in every fibre of his being... funny thing is they make fun of the "png norths bears" tag, but it will end up being perf bears, you watch

I'd love to see the Bears team up with Christchurch. It would be safer than creating a team from scratch.

Didn't Daryl Halligan play for them?

He would be a good club ambassador.

True.

The Queensland Cup is a good level for PNG. Over time I'd like to see a second team from PNG and one from New Caledonia enter it.

If PNG gets a team on the back of Albo funding it for 10 years then it's very possible for the decision to be reversed by a new government. If that happens then it will open the door for the Brisbane Tigers or North Sydney Bears to take their spot.

PNG is a potential goldmine for talent if the time and money is invested at grassroots level.

A 2nd team in Lae would be awesome for talented kumuls from the highlands and island regions.

bears on the central coast would be a good backup option.

I'd base a second team in Lae.

It would be good to move the Queensland Cup Final to Port Moresby every now and then.

Why’s it taken ten years to have a membership program?

retest match tickets how come one adult ticket costs more than a family ticket which is 2 adults and 2 kids?

Wouldn't surprise me if they've only just invested into software to be able to run a membership program. It wouldn't surprise if most of their business has been done in physical tickets and match day purchases either.

Ah like the good old days in England at the gates lol. One for me, one for the tax man approach :) not kidding they used to have two bags of money and pretty sure they only banked and declared one of them!

I guarantee that similar things were happening in Australia back in the day as well.

If albo is stupid enough (and he might be) to fund a PNG NRL team, it’ll be a few years of corruption, then the libs will shitcan it when they come in, leaving the NRL with an unsustainable hot mess. Much as I love the country, stupid idea.

It does make you wonder where all the hundreds of millions put into that country every year goes doesn’t it? even in RL they have been getting millions every year for pngrl, wheres that gone and how has it improved RL in PNG in the last decade?

Unfortunately you don’t have to wonder at all.

I watched a bit of it disappear down poker machines at the Canberra social club (the old Labour Club) on Wednesday night. A couple of the lads were playing two machines at once. I assume they were from the Embassy or some other visiting entity.
