All good mate … I know today is an exciting day and you are trying to post 50 things a minute
Honestly, I'm just cruisin, between posts, I've even started up (bumped) a few I haven't read in a while,
This day was fiat accompli, just a formality, need to see if cook whips out the wallet to see if nrl really wins

Seriously what are they doing with the 290 million

They could buy half the Port Moresby cbd with that and live off the rent

So the proof of success is what this brings. Forget the political stuff, the reason why the NRL have gone to PNG is because they believe it will result in a massive influx of player talent that will strengthen the comp and allow for further expansion. That they can do this on the Australian government $$ is a massive bonus.

How many NRL quality players will be produced? In the next few years a few. In the next 50? Don't know, and I'll be dead anyway.

Bonus : 18 teams Equals 1 more game to sell.

I asked a similar question earlier and got a response about sponsorship ….

now they are going down this path of effort and money I hope it’s successful …. The NRL has got to get their players from somewhere … hopefully PNG can help with this down the track …a lot ..

Jokes aside owning a hotel there for any Aussie league tourists could make a motza

Tim brasher already owns a very successful hotel with pokies there

i actually think that more Aussies will travel over there for games than people think …

He was interviewed about a year or 2 ago, when I heard they were setting up camp in Cairns for a pacifika style team, back then Andrew Hill had all these plans, but it was going to be roughly a 50 million raised bid, from the investors in png, all of a sudden in swooped albo, and the whole thing turned into a monster 600 mil, you can all blame him or pat convoy for this, that's the sports minister who funds Pacificsports that sponsors RU Fiji drua and other foreign countries sports teams, they then pull their funding out once the team is self sustainabe, but they use our tax payer money to do it...
This however, is not funded by them, they've set it up the same way, earlier by funding grassroots with Joe grima (anyone remember the 5 mil going to grass roots last year) this png nrl team is getting paid out of the defence budget, it's a very small percentage, that the government thinks is value for money in terms of security
Very good point.

Some people don't seem to understand that if this money wasn't going towards the team, it would be spent elsewhere, not returned to the Tax payer.
