Great trolling Teddy.
Surprisingly I am a regular reader of the Irish Times, Irish Independent and RTÉ, mainly because I am interested in the politics. Union gets a lot of attention but League has the occasional mention. The Manly players rejecting the inclusive jerseys was probably the most recent event to get substantial coverage. Whenever Andy Farrell or other converts are mentioned their league origins are noted. The Irish team in the World Cup also gets some press.
Is that the first time the Irish times had talked about the nrl !
PNG nrl club a global phenom
This shows a horrifically bad understanding of the competition and its roots lol.Thats a great rule!
They function as a reserve grade (obviously) but they maintain a distinct image for the locals who give a shit. It doesnt hurt anyone and they dont just present as used up leftovers like the NSW cup does.
would it really be so hard for the NsW Cup clubs to come up with alternative names or use something historic?
Haha yeh some footprint in a few tiny pacific islands are going to launch a global movement for rugby league!Great article
PNG, nz and the pacific islands really should be the focus of the arlc over the next 20 years
That would give the game the platform to truly go global
3 qlnd clubs. The 4th is a qrl club promoted. This shows a horrifically bad understanding of the competition and its roots lol.
The premiership as it is today grew from the NSWRL Premiership which began in 1908. Most of the teams in NSW Cup are still in the NRL today, hence most clubs are just direct affiliates of their relevant NRL club. Others have signed agreements with a heritage club (Newtown-Sharks, Norths-Storm etc).
The four QLD NRL clubs were created as new entities so naturally, they're not going to have the identity of a QLD Cup club to fall back on.
PNG 17 millionHaha yeh some footprint in a few tiny pacific islands are going to launch a global movement for rugby league!
I don't troll my favourite sport.Great trolling Teddy.
Greenie has given up talking positively about rugby league and now just moans about everythingI don't troll my favourite sport.
Could reach 4 times that population if they focused on France instead if global reach is the goal.PNG 17 million
Nz 5 million
Fiji 800
Rest 500k
V nairu ? 100k seagulls
And Vegas is just the cherry on top as is a stronger super league
Could reach 4 times that population if they focused on France instead if global reach is the goal.
$20 million a yearPNG may have timed this perfectly. I see no reference to funding, but the Aus govt paying $20m or so a year to keep the Pacific's most populous nation in Australia's sphere could be looking very good for them right now.
Perth is still my preferred option, but interesting with the timing.
what does france have to do with pacific rugby league?Could reach 4 times that population if they focused on France instead if global reach is the goal.
$20 million a year
Promoted? This ain’t England.3 qlnd clubs. The 4th is a qrl club promoted.
ACKSHOOLEE3 qlnd clubs. The 4th is a qrl club promoted.
What? Of course they are. It’s literally the same club, company, LC funding, stadium etc etc, if qrl wasn’t so belligerent they’d alos be called Redcliffe lolACKSHOOLEE
No, they're all new entities.
The Brisbane Broncos, Gold Coast Titans, North Queensland Cowboys and Dolphins are all brand new clubs at the time of their inception.
That the latest one shares a name with a QLD Cup counterpart does not indicate they're a promoted QCup club. They're distinctly different entities, to the point the Dolphins have other feeders that aren't Redcliffe.
Don’t even represent the same area as each other. What? Of course they are. It’s literally the same club, company, LC funding, stadium etc etc, if qrl wasn’t so belligerent they’d alos be called Redcliffe lol
