After some excellent decisions by the genius that is Steve Rogers to get rid of some of "hopeless Andersons" ridiculous purchases & Steve Rogers ability to attract a couple of high profile players to club despite the problems anderson was causing the club, there maybe a few pommes on the way as well now.
Rumour is 2nd hand from a player manager.
Possibly current Wigan players.?

Reefy, Why do you shoot yourself in the foot like this?? Two weeks ago Australia beats the Pommies 3-0 with the worst side ever, you lead the charge of talking down the series because "anyone" can beat the Pommies.

It sounds like that you would be happy to have a few Wigan players on board????? Am I reading this incorrectly??
Thoughts??

What you have to understand Fizman is that in Reefy's mind everything that Ando does is stupid, wrong and bad for the sharks.

Anything Anderson is not invloved in is a great idea.

He is a bit one minded.

Or is that simple minded.

I have nothing against the pomme players. I regularly watch Super League. Do you?
Senior is the best centre in the world, bar none. He is a pomme.

Any Australian team can beat the pommes because of the strenght of the NRL comp, origin etc. We have over 60 players who can easily match the best of the pommes.
And the choice of at least 15 coaches.

Gee Reefy you might be right about Senior but his super league form was only average. No better/worse than most. He's stood out in 2 tests but if he came over here and had to play some Australian centres every week we could get a better line on him.
I like what you say about the pommes and hope we have some $$$ under the cap. If and I mean if (cause I hope he stays)Bailey goes we must have some spare cash.

The Test team of over the hill has beens wasn't anything special, but below that they are currently not too far off us in terms of junior development. So there are plenty of up and comers we could snare like Sean Briscoe or even better Gareth Hock. The kid Hock reminds me of a young Tallis.

We picking up some pommies? I doubt it. I don't think we have the funds to buy someone from of there.

Johnson has just signed a three year deal with Bradford and Briscoe looks as if he`s on his way to Hull .

Briscoe was the one we wanted.

We're still a chance

How can Hull get him, they've been bleating about being over the cap since SL ended? They even claimed it's why they didn't retain Triester.......

He still hasn't signed anything yet. If Bailey leaves, how about we go after Brian O'Driscoll. He is supposedly meant to be very keen on League, and is rumoured to be talking to St Helens.

I am the last bloke to talk up Union players, but this guy is meant to be the best centre in union.

I think it would take very big dollars to get Brian. He has had some very big offers from French RU sides to switch and, as keen as he may be on league, I can't see him switching codes at this stage.

But if there's one union player I would like to see switch, it's him. He already runs like a league centre and has a great awareness and instinct. I'd love to see him in black, white and blue.

Just thought about O'Driscoll in marketing terms. The Swans get a good contingent of Irish backpackers in on the basis of Tadhg Kennelly turning out for them. Good support, too - the type of fan who comes often (while they're in Sydney), keeps the bar turning over and sings loudly without starting fights. Now I know Bondi to the SCG is a lot closer than we are, but O'Driscoll is a bigger name to start with.

I still don't think we'd get him but it's worth a thought.

Just a thought guys, but if we pay O'Driscoll the money it would take to not only entice him to switch codes, but also to come to Australia, what do we do with the remaining 25K we would have left on the salary cap?

Its probably a 1000-1 shot. But the chances of him going the St Helens are a lot shorter. The rumour is Saints will sell Martin Glesson to Wigan and then bring in O'Driscoll. This was fuelled gretly the other day by Wigan chairman Maurice Lindsay coming out of nowhere to declare Wigan had no interest in Gleeson. But at the time there hadn't been even one rumour that Wigan were chasing Gleeson. Makes some sense, as Saints could get a transfer fee for Gleeson to help clear their substantial debts, and then bring in O'Driscoll.

BTW Briscoe has signed a 3 yer deal with Hull.

In a radio interview the other day Raper was asked if there was any players in England he'd like to see at Cronulla. He said Paul Sculthorpe is the ultimate professional and a good bloke. Not sure if it was him or the commentator who said Cronulla might have to break the bank for him. The other commentator then said something along the lines of "if Chris Anderson doesn't break the bank first".

Also quoted in todays tele that Raper and Scullthorpe are good mates and raper would love to see scully in a sharks gueernsy
