I assume the club doesn’t want to turn it into a bigger deal than it already is. If they do another press release even to say that the test was negative then it’ll just get the media whipped up into a frenzy and invite negative publicity again because everyone will have an opinion about it. Probably best to leave it be I suppose.

Newcastle pair Kalyn Ponga and Kurt Mann have avoided sanction from the NRL over their toilet cubicle incident.

Ponga and Mann were filmed leaving a toilet cubicle at a Newcastle hotel together earlier this month by a member of the public, prompting the Knights and the NRL to launch an investigation into the matter.

NRL sources on Wednesday confirmed head office had opted to take no action against either player. It is unclear whether the Knights will adopt the same stance.

As part of their investigation, the NRL undertook target drug testing of the pair.

The players denied any wrongdoing and it is understood Mann accompanied Ponga to the toilet because the Newcastle star was feeling sick.

There was speculation Ponga could lose the captaincy over the incident, but it is believed the Knights superstar will stand by their star.

Interesting! Note from the release there is no mention of exoneration, no case to answer or innocence.
Opted to take no action could mean anything & just maybe the first strike has been recorded which remains confidential. Oh well, all the "Pollyanna`s" will be shouting from the rooftops that K.P & his multi untalented side kick are as clean as the driven snow now. At least old Kurt has now found his true calling "Sh.thouse Assistant" & I`m sure that will work for him as he will have less room to crab sideways or fall off tackles in such close quarters.

Why haven’t we heard of this “superstar”? Or do they mean Kurt, around the porcelain?

Question: If Parr was here earlier, would Ponga have gotten this super extension? Or would we have pushed him somewhere else?

Hypothetical. But had he been made CEO soon after the WESTs takeover you’d hope things would be very different.

Has made himself unavailable for World Cup to focus on the Knights.
He might have not been picked anyway.

Glad to hear he’s made this decision. He would probably have had a game or two against some of the lesser teams but I doubt he would have played any of the big matches. I believe DSaf has made the same call and will focus on the club too which is another plus. These two both need a big pre season.

Both Saifiti’s were named in Fiji’s squad today, but Fiji just named a huge squad of all the eligible players and said they’ll figure out which ones will actually be available at a later date. Daniel has definitely said he’s not playing but Jacob might.

Might be good for Jacob. He's played most games this year and I'd say NSW was good for him, so this would be another good cherry on top and hopefully inspire him to keep pushing ahead next year.

Why is no one talking about ponga having a press conference for something that happened 6months ago about something everyone forgot!?!

he’s really sorry apparently, and learnt a lot of lessons
I'd say mainly because it wasn't a press conference "about" that, it was just finally giving journalists access to him after 6 months of silence. It's what they chose to ask him.

It’s hard to believe, two men in cubicle, one sick from bad food the other close by to assist and when they come out with security standing by, both, BOTH, are still carrying drinks which you would think at least one, him who is sick, would have ditched in rush to get to cubicle.
Hard to believe.
