Poor Ben Hunt

Thanks Braith & Kenty for continuously stating the offer for Hunt is too low. Just keep it bubbling in the press whilst other teams are allowed to negotiate with their players without scrutiny.
Are we not in a position to get Hunt a 3rd party add on for 100-150K. If we cant get a 3rd party for our best player - suggest we cant get any 3rd party payment for any other player. Feels like we are 2-3M behind the wages of all other teams.
Why don't Braith & Kenty disclose how many 3rd party deals the Bulldogs and their 'benefactor' have organised.

*700k to play whatever position best suits the team.
Yep agree. I’d say 800 and your playing 9 unless Sullivan is happy to play 9. If not then Sullivan to 7, Amone 6, Ramsey 1. If he whinges then see ya mate. Love Hunt but we can’t allow him to put a gun to our heads when he’s about to turn 33 at the start of the 2023 season

personally i think $700k is too much $500k would have been better, he will be 33 and yes has had a great year, what about the other years on over a mill, im sure the offer would be much better at the dolphins, if this is a money grab with your last years in the game then find another sucker club, if management cave in to his demands plus the fact of only wanting to play 7, then that will set the bar for all other players either at the dragons or wanting to go there. you would have to think personally he has had a great year and may win the dally m, but since he has been there what have the dragons achieved, i rest my case.

DCE is older - doesn't seem to be an issue with him earning plenty over the next few years. There also has to be a premium there for being a leader - and if his current form stands - an inspirational leader. We just need to find another 100-150 3rd party component.

Good to see Paul Crawley & David Riccio agree that 700k not low ball & in response to Kent saying it was , responded with his age , sending Bud elsewhere & requirement for more forwards. Kent hit back with Hunt as their best player & will play for Australia in the off season and they responded with “ How does that help the Dragons “ The zinger from Crawley was (paraphrasing here ) Your elite signing is paid to get you to the finals.

Graham was on later about Hook, he limply trotted out the “ expected to get the spoon “line In defence of the bloke who flicked him ( or was. It others ? ) Glad he is gone after that.

Bennett once said you're better off letting a player go one year too early than one year too late. He stood by his conviction- ask Wally Lewis.

I'll catch it up one of the many replays.

if the club has offered him what the club thinks is a fair deal then why do we have to find the extra. i seem to recall most members on here saying that we were always paying overs and hence why our salary cap is always in a mess, you cant say that he hasnt had a fair go with what he was being paid before, would you say we got value for money in those years ?

Agree 100% Ben hunt has peaked this year next 2 years has to be at 9 w 1 6,7 between Ramsay, Sloan. Amone and Sullivan .. would go to $800k a year for a world class hooker as Hunt is but not at 7!! So if 2023 is his last year then I’m good..

Agree with all the comments, unfortunately well into your thirties means more injuries, whilst this year he has stayed on the field that doesnt mean that will continue as age catches up. I heard Hunt interviwed not long ago & he said himself it takes a lot longer to get over a game these days especially if he does play more games at hooker. I look at Reynolds since moving to Broncos made a big difference to the side but has spent a lot of time on the sideline. $700k fair & reasonable IMO.

If Hunt & Hook are so good, then why do we always seem to be favourites for the Wooden Spoon with them as Captain & Coach.
I believe it’s time to head in a completely different direction as we are just going around in circles.
Different direction as you say , it's not working and got worse since Widdop left ..... I'd go with Sully to guide the team around with Amone and buy a 9 if Hunt won't play there .....

If Hunt wants to make a finals series with the Dragons then he himself should know he needs to be at 9 and Sullivan at 7 as that is the best possible spine the club can have. As soon as he included Griffin as part of his decision and how he loves playing under him I would be glad to see him gone if it means Griffin goes as well. He had a fun year with his mates. Time to get serious and win a comp with a team for the fans that pay his wages.

They say he should be paid big dollars as he is playing good footy. So was Luke Brooks when he signed a huge contract and he was much younger. That turned out well. You can't base salary on 1 stand out year.

I am not saying they are the the same player but a high paid player is in the same bracket as all other high paid players as they take a huge chunk off the cap and play a huge role in your roster as they can take up 2 or 3 decent players wages.
