managers may encourage but the final decision rests with the player, as james graham said he should do the selfless thing, he has been on a good wicket for the last years and next year without being of no benefit to the dragons, i dont blame hunt totally as we havent had the cattle around him either, but unfortunately they are the facts.
Dont disagree but everyone is bagging Hunt. Has not made any decision yet so who says he wont do the so called "selfless" thing. But he still has to pur himself and family first to some degree.
A lot of what the media trot out id part BS and mostly part manager stuff.
Hunt has said he wants to play under Hook, stay at 7 and stay at the club. What is wrong with that.
The other BS comes from those other 2 sources as per usual with one of them headlining and catastraphising cause thats what they do.

Agree BLM01 Hunt has to do the best he can
BUT you must agree if he was spotted at belmore with his manager today its a pretty bad look considering he is our captain , best player and also best paid player still has 2 games to play and yet decides to have a talk to gus about his future .. that just doesnt sit right with me in the ethics department .. Completely different if it was outside dogs club.. correct me if im wrong but arent opposition teams only supposed to submit an expression of interest to his manager before the november 1 date .

The frustration comes from those who have the team and club's success truly at heart. After a very meek decade we are this close to having a potentially potent spine in Ramsay/ Amone/Sullivan/Hunt and we just want the pieces to fall into order for the team we all support. Hunt can't be criticised too heavily for wanting the most money he can get, but let's see if he is actually is backing this coach or if indeed he is a team player...and if he did meet with the Dogs then we already know the answer.

So just trying to understand.........................
Hunt rocks up at training this morning for the Captains Run , where he takes charge of the side including revving them up for tomorrows clash with the Tigers...
In his speech he'll mention Pride in the jumper , doing it for the Club and the Fans ,,,yada yada yada ......
At the same time he's off chatting in person to an opposition side re his future ???
Thats why you have a manager Champ
Can anyone take him seriously from this point on ??
His position at the Club and Captain is now untenable
Thanks for your past efforts Ben BUT time to move on.....

I agree that it is a professional sport and Hunt like others have to make the most for his family BUT the guy has made at least 7 or 8 mill out of the game and even when you take tax out of it , how much money is enough to set yourself & family up for life ? Should this be at the expense of loyalty to a club that has set his family up for life and as captain doing anything to benefit the TEAM ? We talk about culture change but these things surely are fundamental to it.
IMO we should offer no more than the 700k mentioned and any increase on this dependent on him agreeing to play 9 for 2.5 seasons and mentor Bud in. I'm not over confident the Board is reading the room properly but hope that we don't throw the sink at Hunt & keep the bloke that won't play him at 9 anyhow.

True..not a good look but happens all the time. They did not hide and the media are after a story and you got it. Obviously Dogs contacted his manager or vice versa and sounded each other out if interested down the track. Who said they offered anything?.
You can go and talk to anyone and visit any other club. The NRL cannot do anything about that.

Besides the NRL admin cast of 1000 have other issues they should be attending to.

Yeah Gus has reportedly now got an interest in both our halfbacks. The king and his heir.
I assume he is pumping up Hunts price to pressure us to up our offer? Then try to take Bud?

I know the dogs have had to clear a lot of players over the last few years but surely they must nearly have a full cap again by now adding Kikau and the Parra hooker next year to Burton, Pangai and Addo Carr?

Depends on your lifestyle and your mortagages or portfolio for some.
How much you earned in the past does and should not come into your entitlements for the future.
I agree with your last para except up to 800K is OK but not dependant on anything. If it turns out in time it is best for our team he plays 9 as Sullo is ready for 7 F/T then he goes where he is needed.
ATM he is our best 7.
Any decent disciplined coach will realise this and player accept this or take the alternative and go elsewhere

C'mon it is his managers doing the negotiating not him
Wants wrong with wanting to play under a certain coach who prefers him in his preferred spot where he gets paid more.
No one is holding the club to ransom. The manager trying to get things for his players way.
Besides the club said no.
If you believe it was his manager who came up with that idea of where he wants to play, knowing Hook only wants him at 7 as opposed to an incoming coach playing him at 9, then as Paul Keating once said, "you believe in fairy's at the bottom of the garden"

Yeh righto. You obviously have had nothing to do with player managers. I have but not big names.
Dave Riolo comes to mind as has a few client in the Illawarra region.
Get a grip. They advise their clients of nearly every move even in media interviews if they are targeted for something. Some managers get their hands on 16/17 year olds when their parents cant do it.
I dont believe in fairies BTW but angels maybe.
Look at the SBW fiasco orchestrated back in his Bulldogs days by his manager

Ben Hunt is a top class player and will get a lot of interest from a number of clubs as 2023 his last year with us.

The Bulldogs are signing up very good players at reported value $$$. For example, Ado Carr reported $550k, Burton $500k, Kikua $750k; therefore all doable under a cap. We have Lomax reported $700k, Ben Hunt $1 million, Suli $550k, JDBelin $750k, Sua $550k. Who is spending the money wisely? How much $$$ 3rd party deals are available? The Bulldogs are building nicely and if I was Ben Hunt I would be asking myself where is my chance for a premiership ?

I watched the very tough game last night. Check out the roster that the roosters have available. Simply amazing! Teddy, Manu, Keary JWH, Takey, Crichton, Tupou, Radley etc. The whole team is chocked up with Internationals and SOO players. I don’t believe they are ‘rorters‘ but have excellent access to 3rd party arrangements. A successful team needs those extra deals. We don’t by all accounts. It is reported that Teddy counted as $700k under cap? so Dragons generally up against it these days.

I would hope that Ben Hunt stays and we do keep and see Sullivan prove his mettle. also, please find 3rd party deals they unlock premierships.

Regarding your $$$. Lomax signed for about $500-$550 reported at the time for 5 years. Not sure which is right or where you get $700 from
But also reported Addo Carr is on pretty much fullback money not the $500 and not sure where you got that from
Burton has to be upgraded so they say after palying origin. This is why they have to flick TPJ who reportedly is on 900K?. Unbelievable
Their cap is still in trouble at the Dogs to accomodate all their star signings. Dont believe they are getting all these players to a bottom 4 club or was 16th place club for unders or right money. TPJ proves that

Hunt can stay at 7 play under Hook just not at this club
