Port Fowarding

How is this done?

I apparently need to forward or open a port for a program that I use to download torrents***

Apparently I has to set a static ip address to even have the option to forward a port.
I did this with the help of this link...

http://216.104.71.5/networking/static-xp.htm

I then tried port forwarding my modem following the steps found here...

http://216.104.71.5/english/routers/port_forwarding/Asus/WL600g/The_Lord_of_the_Rings-War_of_the_Ring.htm

I still get this message when running a test through utorrent to see if the port is forwarded properly...

Welcome to the µTorrent Port Checker.
A test will be performed on your computer to check if the specified port is opened.

Checking port 41309 on 123.243.66.193...

Error! Port 41309 does not appear to be open.

Please see www.portforward.com for more information about how to map a port.

Please make absolutely sure that PeerGuardian2 or Protowall is allowing utorrent.com (72.20.34.145) in either of those programs. Those of you using ipfilter.dat should make sure the list does not include the website's IP. After making sure of this, re-run this test by refreshing the page (F5).

Any suggestions?

No need to worry. I managed to sort this issue out. No thanks to the kind people who made me a ghost.

No wonder that other thread in the NRL sunk straight to the bottom. Here I was thinking that my thread was stupid. :(
