Position Issues

I think this shows that we have more than one positional problem.

Fristly - we still don't have an established half to partner Benji. We do have options in Miller, Anasta, Sironen and possibly Moltzen.

If Anasta isn't in the halves though that means we could end up with a backrow of Fulton, Blair and Anasta. That combination in my opinion will be skillful but will lack grunt and I'm really worried regarding Blair's and Anasta's work rate.

I suppose both the halves and the backrow could be good but there are some real issues there.

On top of that the fullback role is still unclear however I hope that Potter gets this right from the start.

Moltzen wants to settle at fullback? Hahahahahaha. Had his chance and sucked so bad it was embarrassing.

Someone get Potter the tapes of 2012 and show him how pea heart performed at the back.
As a former fullback, he should see he isnt the man for the job.

That article tells me Sheens stayed way too long, about time I say, although Anasta at 7 might work,I would hope Milky gets a decent crack from Potter unlike the go Sheens gave him.

At this stage id give Anasta the 7.
Kicking game, defense and experience. Miller has none of that.

I'd give Anasta the 7 as well but that is partly because I'm more concerned about the backrow.

Tedesco should be the only fullback option. Meaney can be his backup. Moltzen should never wearva number less than 7 ever again

LOL...you dont work aout your backrow and build the team around that....ignorance always shines thru

1- Tedesco
6 - Marshall
7 - Miller
9 - Farah

The rest you work around those keys.

Tiger05, we agree on very little but Iam with you on this one. Our forwards have lacked grunt in defense and attack.

Anasta and Fulton will be both in the top 17 come 2013, but to play them both in the backrow would be a massive gamble and if Benji is going back to no6 their are not a lot of other options.

I would play Benji at 7 and Anasta a six for our defensive sets and swap them for our attacking sets. Will be interesting how Potter squeezes Anasta and Moltzen into the same 17.

So where in the line does a 7 defend?
In Marshalls case its usually been 2/3 or 5/4

I reall think we need to go back to basics, keep it as simple as possible....Sheens loved taking the KISS method and turning it around, then upside down - insed out and shuffling the lot....confusion reigned last season, we need stability and cohesion first

I see what people are saying about our forwards and our light backrow with players almost a certainty to be in the 17.....but we need keep those problems confined to that area, we dont need it impacting alsewhere....we had a year of Sheens stuffing the halves because a f/back went down....its madness

You're right ink. Probably is, he's still tentative about one of his shoulders. When he defends at 7, it exposes his weak shoulder, and it's always on the inside, next to where Blair defends.

Thats what created so many holes in our defence last year.

We cannot have Blair and Benji on the same side and Benji must defend at five-eighth. He's a more capable and confident defender there.

The first thing we need to do is get good go-forward consistently. Galloway and Woods are gun starting props but they need some good back-up off the bench and in the backrow.

A slow small backrow with a low work rate is going to stuff us.

Not sure exactly what can be done to solve that now. f**king up the halves just to get Anasta out of the backrow is aSheens concept that is tired and utterly stupid.

The players brought to the club for next year, on a whole, are not what we need. I'm not saying that they aren't good players though.

Pettybourne and Thompson will have to be prepared to cover front row during games. Groat isn't ready for NRL yet and Murdoch Masila is still young and developing.

Plenty of back row talent in NYC and NSW Cup coming through, but they are a few years away from being NRL quality starters imo.

I guess having bought Anasta he will be in the starting side but he isn't a 7 and Marshall needs to move to 6 so surely it's time for Miller to get a shot. Tedesco could be a superstar so he will lock down 1. And Anasta has a poor work rate and despite his comments, does not want to play in the back row. Never has, never will. He is way too lazy. So the solution surely, is to have him on the bench.

Anasta was a poor purchase. Go with youth 1. Tedesco 6. Marshall 7. Miller 9. Farah 13. Sironen

We need Anasta in he close game s to call and make the smart plays instead of Benji and to a lesser extent Robbie coming up with the hail Mary plays

We have got the Aussie under 20 halfback and toyota cup premiership winning halfback. I reckon we give him a go there. Im not 100% sold on him, but you need to find out. And that means more then a few weeks. Anasta and Marshall have both never been halfbacks, or good ones anyway. Keep it simple, play players in their natural position. We might be a bit light in the forwards however ill be interested to see how they go under another coach. Wouldn't be surprised this year if they were running harder, and not running at markers. Therefore making furthers inroads making it easier for the spine.

1. Tedesco
6. Marshall
7. Miller
9. Farah
13. Anasta/Fulton

Its a recruitment issue, its a problem created by Sheens....his legacy if you will.
Hopefully its a thing of the past....hopefully the days of buying cherry tomatoes and cucumber when meat n spuds is whats really required are over....but yes it will affect us onfield this year.....the price a new coach pays in inheritance

Anasta at 13 will be a great buy for us,I think he is the missing link we need,he will be better than Hino has at 13 IMHO,but Hino will lift at cronulla to prove people wrong.
