Good effort OT.
You forgot Dufty showing good signs and McCrone finally getting dropped with Mann looking promising at 7 for the rest of the season.
Other than that, bloody good effort mate.
I think the same re Dufty etc but am only willing to post that after Sunday as it might not happen.
Re Mc Crone being dropped they unfortunately said it was due to injury so can't give that a tick.

OK positive post time.
Vaughan has been much much better than I thought he would be.
Mc Inness is a great upgrade on Rein and will be even better next year.
Widdop has been better this year but still has work to do but I believe in the right structure he has a lot more to give.
Mann is a great acquisition and will improve further in the right structure.
Lafai went better than I thought he ever would and hopefully will go better with Hunt inside and a quick winger outside.
I'm positive that most of our BOD, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Jose Feliciano, Andre Bocelli and Ronnie Milsap all have something in common other than having testicles and liking music.
Nice post OT.
Where do you think Mann should play next year?
Its a tough one for me but he needs to be in the starting 13 somewhere.

With Hunt coming it rules out the halves
IMO he has to be closer to the ball than wing
So if Dufty is the FB it means centre.
He is a natural left side player but suggest he may be more useful to the team on the right providing we have a speedster outside Lafai.
Other than that scenario he plays FB Dufty to RW (to learn his trade) then Mc Donald to his correct LW and you have Lafai & Aitken in the centres.
Aitken's lack of ability in passing concerns me as to whether he should maintain that right centre position.
Cannot see a scenario where Nighty remains

Aplogies misread on my part but still hate the drug cheat.
Anyway the John's brothers are both delusional f**kwhits and their opinions of themselves and what they say is a total wank.
One a drug cheat and the other obviously dropped at birth.
Andrew Johns is the best player I've ever seen, he's not the only good footballer to be off his head!!!

His contraventions were well known and covered up and only came to light to ensure him a TV career because he said was sorry.
His drug use was bad enough but the cover up by him his club and NRL unforgivable IMO
Could he play yes but no doubt IMO he pulled out on a few games on purpose so that is a big minus.
I rate Lewis and Thurston from the modern era better than him and Kenny and Renouf on a par with him.
Raper untouchable from the previous era.

His choice of drug was not exactly performance enhancing.

If anything it was detrimental. And he was still the best I've seen.

Weren't the Dragons players from the 11 in a row days absolute aggressive self righteous self-piss heads? Thats what I have heard.
I rate Andrew Johns and Thurston as the two best playmakers I have seen. Lewis was almost as good IMO

No not all were that way inclined
Raper, King, Langlands, Smith certainly all lads Gadnier to a lesser degree.
You would have a really hard time in finding any shit or a bad word said about Provan, Lumsden, Kearney, Evans, Ryan, Pollard, Walsh, Evans, Clay, Porter, Rasmussen, Huddart and many others
who played during the great run.
No doubt they loved a beer but not all were badly behaved.

Social media has definitely changed the landscape these days. Bad boys get exposed pretty quickly.

Yes that is correct but nothing to expose on those that do nothing wrong
As I suggested many of the great players were not aggressive, self righteous or puss heads and any such claims are errant

Nothing has changed. Many of the great players these days are none of those things. Just as Andrew Johns was a loose cannon so would have some of the old timers been back then.

Crush said; "...some are wankers some are saints..."

Agree, but feel elitism in today's sport produces wankers at a much higher rate. I'd be surprised if there was as many Self righteous, egotistical people decades ago. You do make a good point about the media exposing much more wrong doings however for me the biggest issue are the infractions of the criminal nature thar have undoubtly been swept away...it's like if you're famous you'll be forgiven...bless you my son for you have sinned but you're a bloody good footy player so we will forgive you.

Positives for me:

Player Recruitment feels like it has improved and has a proper underpinning philosophy
Vaughan and JDB have both improved
the left side is pretty solid - Widdop, JT, Lafai and Nighty are a good combo
Dufty has shown he is worth giving a shot
Mann has developed into a solid super sub
McInnes has been really good
Our flu management was good for 23 rounds

With the old man running the club security in the late sixties / early seventies, he often said the players loved their grog and had to assist them on their way at times but only one player really stood out as having big issues and being badly behaved .......... and he was probably the smallest of them all.

Yep Sticks used to be able to keep Smithy in check but after 65 and Sticks retirement the little fella had no fatherly input and started to play up although always managed to get up on a game day
A few years ago when they had a car parade of champions on GF day Smithy somehow got on the field and Sticks car stopped and picked him up and Smithy was happy to sit quietly beside the great man such is the respect and awe he had for Provan

Yep, your old man was spot on in assessment mate. Said player is still my favourite Saint to this very day. I first met him when i was 6 years old and the day i met him was a Saturday and him and another player who was a mate of my old man were in the Gong having a pub/club crawl and both of them had to play on the Sunday. The little fella got into an argument that day with a well know journo, a few words were exchanged and then bang, he sat the journo on his arse in the middle of bistro of Thirroul leagues club. By the time the two of them left the club they were absolutely legless Not sure if they won the next day or not but apparently this type of pre-game outing was a regular occurrence back then.

I still catch up with him every November and while age and his more recent medical condition has slowed him physically, he still possesses all the cheek in the world. He openly admits he was full of bad manners and nightmare to control in his glory days and that he was afraid of NO man and only a couple of women!

This guy was my inspiration as a kid, i wanted to be the next him. My young bloke knows more about him than he does about any of our current players and has all sorts of gear signed by him, photos taken with him every year since he was one year old (7 now) and any new jersey i buy the young bloke has to have his number on the back of it. The interesting thing is, if a current player behaved today like this rascal did back then, I'd be calling for him to be banished from society and would never want my young bloke to acknowledge him let alone worship him............probably makes me a hypocrite, but such is the devotion to the legend that was born during those glory years. Once a Saint always a Saint.
