Willie Mason, Todd Carney and Timana Tahu in line for Country selection

Three rebels and a defector are poised to make spectacular returns to representative rugby league next week for the Country side to play City in Port Macquarie.
The Daily Telegraph revealed Country selectors were considering naming Greg Bird at lock or five-eighth along with Willie Mason, Todd Carney and Timana Tahu for the annual match next Friday night.
In other surprising selection news, Newcastle Knights winger Akuila Uate is certain to be named on the Country wing.
Mason and Tahu are being discussed by Country selectors but their inclusion would depend on which players Australia selectors take for the Test against New Zealand, also next Friday. Once the Kangaroos are chosen, City and Country would queue for the remaining players.
If Test selectors take Josh Perry, Brent Kite and Michael Weyman, Mason would then be called into the Country side and probably play off the interchange bench.
It would cap a remarkable revival for Mason, who just three months ago was left wondering whether he would find a club after being dumped by Sydney Roosters.
His form for the North Queensland Cowboys has been robust in recent weeks.
"If Willie was to get a call-up, it would be a reflection of his form," Cowboys chief executive Peter Parr said.
"Over the last few weeks he has been terrific. We were always confident once he recovered from that knee reconstruction he would get back to his best form.
"It (Country selection) would be a good reward and certainly add to their team."
Bird, back in the NRL after a stint with Catalans in France, is certain to be in Country colours.
He is likely to be at lock with either Trent Barrett or Todd Carney slotted in at five-eighth. Canterbury and incumbent New South Wales halfback Brett Kimmorley should win the No. 7 jumper.
Tahu, back in the NRL after a stint with the Wallabies, will come into calculations if the Test selectors take St George Illawarra winger Brett Morris.
Morris, Lote Tuqiri and Jarryd Hayne are locked in a three-way battle for Test selection on the wing.
Provided he is overlooked for Australia, Jamie Lyon is expected to partner Matt Cooper in the Country centres.
Dragons utility Beau Scott - currently playing centre for the Dragons - is certain to find himself a place in the Country team.
Country coach Laurie Daley has numerous back-rowers available, including Bird, Glenn Stewart, Ben Creagh and Anthony Laffranchi. Daley will have to see which of these players wins Kangaroos selection.
Kurt Gidley will be first picked for Country, at fullback, but if he is a bench player for Australia, look for Canberra's rising star Josh Dugan to be in the Country No. 1 jumper.
The Australia, City and Country teams will all be announced on Sunday night.
