While i would like Josh at the Roosters i would only want him if he had Cronulla's blessing to leave which he hasn't. I was really looking forward to see Billy smith develop as a first grader this year but that is not to be for now. Not sure why the Roosters aren't looking at playing Matt Ikuvalu either at wing or centre now that Billy Smith is out, also interested to see how Angus goes at centre for WCC , that could work as a stop gap like they use Aubbo at times but for me i would be giving Ikuvalu the first crack.
I think the roosters are possible looking at shifting Brett Morris to centre for Ikuvalu/Hall to slot in (I think Hall may have the upper hand). I remember reading an article where Brett Morris stated that he had been training in the centre position. Maybe Crichton isn't locked in at centre definitively, but this is a test to see if Crichton can hack it there

I agree about Angus. I don't see it as a long term solution, though. It is an experiment in the short term to help get us out of a bind. I know that centre was his rugby position, but I think the centres in rugby is a different proposition to the centres in league. Anyway, in time we will see. Give Angus the WCC and we can re-assess again after that.

Personally, I am not yet sold on Ikuvalu. He is small, makes a lot of handling errors and I thought his defence is a little bit suspect. He may help us out in the short term, but I am doubtful that he is the answer. I would still prefer to see Josh Morris come over and end up finishing his career with his brother. His defence is very solid indeed.

Ikuvalu indeed had some defensive lapses, but he for the most part played above average when he filled in for those 10 games until Morris. I think if he was in the position 'long term' his defence would improve just like another struggler in defence Joseph Manu. Height may be an issue though, as with that new rule which forbids people tackling attacking players leaping to catch a ball, Ikuvalu couldn't tackle an attacker as an option, and then would struggle competing with taller players.

At this stage, I am leaning towards B Moz at left centre and R Hall at right ring. That, of course, depends on whether or not we get J Moz. I still hope that we do TBH. Iku is a possibility but, at the moment, I see him as a backup only (until he can prove that he is up to FG standard). It will be interesting to see what happens with Izzy, Xerri and some other possible signings that are still in the mix.
