For mine, Scotland were another dissapointment on the whole, though did show some promise.

I was hoping for some starch in defence and some sparkle in attack, and on the whole got neither.

Stars: I liked Danny Brough overall. He had some ups and downs, but he tried hard and kept putting himself about. Iain Morrison was consistently good, and for mine was close to Scotlands best. He was everywhere and played with heart. Oliver Wilkes I thought also tried hard, and Mick Nanyn showed something as well, though I thought performed better off the bench. Hooker Henderson was solid.

Disappointments: Robertson was a complete flop. From game 1 to game 3 he was terrible, I dont understand why he was persevered with at FB. Another who failed to impress me was Duffy. I thought he looked poor at 5/8 in the first 2 games, and then he was abysmal at halfback in the last game.

McCormack? Dont know..... I was surprised he stuck with Robertson, and I would have liked to have seen Paddy Coupar get more than 20 minutes game time in the final.

Remember they didn't beat Wales and were lucky to make the WC in the first place. To finish eighth is pretty good really. The last game looked bad but they had the shortest break between games of the whole tournament and you could see they were out on their feet early on, and playing in the heat too. They lacked depth in a lot of positions and relied on Brough and Ian Henderson a lot. Robertson was ordinary. Wade Liddell would have been better at fullback. Like Ireland they lacked the firepower to break sides and had to toil to get anywhere. In the end they got a win, which is more than they did in 2000 and probably more than most expected so they can probably be happy. They should be happy just to be there.

They exceeded my expectations by winning a game and being reasonably competitive against France. Only in the last game were they completely outclassed. I thought they'd be fighting out last place with Ireland.
