He hasn't even played for Australia or been in finals football (I think?) or won a state of origin series.

There is more he can do.

edit: the Eels were in the finals in 07 weren't they.
He wont play for australia as he plays for fiji

A lot of pressure and expectation is starting to be placed upon him, will be interesting to see if he can sustain his current form and stay out of constant media scrutiny unlike a lot of other high profile players have been able too.
Avoiding Kings Cross gunmen will also probably extend his success.
The pressure has been on him for the last 6 weeks and he seems to be getting better, going alright if you ask me, and he plays in a position where he can sit out of the play for a bit if he feels there is a bit to much pressure on him, and come back in when ever he feels like it

A pointless statement given that he plays Origin for NSW, and that's in Australia yeah?

He is Australian, true blue dinky di fair dinkum. Only played for Fiji through his father being Fijian.

NRL Advert:

Hayne dodging bullets.
In the background, Watmough belting a sponsor, Snake looking drunk and sleazy in the background, Bird dressed in prison greens holding up a glass, Cronulla players in a group, Danny Weidler going through a garbage bin, Mason leaning on a wall in puddle; Nate Myles holding his tummy in a carpet shop.

Tina Turner rolls into shot in a wheelchair wheezing out Simply the Best with David Gallop doing backing vocals "Umm...ahh...Ummm...ahh".

True, but it does suck that he or any player can switch almost when ever they like.

As much as I would love to have him at my club and as much as I hate Parra I really hope he stays with them for the next 10 + years.

LMFAO. You've out-done yaself Ronny.

I really hope they don't plaster Hayne all over their advertising campaign as they did with Stewart & Inglis. He's seriously not a good choice for that role.

you guys did read the article correctly?
2 mill over 4 seasons....500k a year. No different to what Lockyer etc would be earning!

the other 2 mill COULD be made up through sponsorships... who wouldnt want hayne promoting their product???

I'm surprised Nate Myles doesn't get a gig on the Daily Telegraph.

Advert:
"Watch out for Nate Myles' column - full of what you expect from the telgraph."

Or maybe a blog?

You would like to of thought that the NRL has learnt a thing or two from having players as the 'face of the game'. It only really serves to make the game look foolish when said players misbehave, as it did this year.

There are dozens and dozens of wonderful athletes in this competition. Brett Stewart, Greg Inglis and Jarryd Hayne are not the only ones.

Without being smart-arse about it, no-one would be more deserving of the "face of the game" based solely on role-model attributes than someone like Alan Tongue.

The guy is a workhorse and a champion.

For some reason however, I can not quite foresee this happening.

I don't understand this mentality, at all. you say he is true blue dinky di fair dinkim, oh but he has played for Fiji. That is complete rubbish, a player shouldn't be able to stroll around and play for whoever the f*ck he feels like at the time!! He's either Aussie, or Fijian, take your pick, but shouldn't have been able to play for both. I never have and I never will understand that crap, also why Kiwi's and Islanders are allowed to play Origin (the likes of Folau and cutie etc)

If you're going to pick a good guy, you'd be better off picking someone like Hindmarsh, Petero or Steve Price. Tongue is all of the things you said, but he doesn't exactly have a high enough profile to be worthy to be deemed 'face of the game'.

Wrong.

David Williams.

Won GF + Aus Rep + SOO Rep in first year of football.

Not saying that the clean-shaven gimp is better than Hayne 'cos he's obviously not, but that statement is stupid.

Your right but Hayne is a year younger than Williams and played for australia and nsw at a younger age then Williams.

Fittler won a premiership (played in 2) and played for NSW and Australia before he was 19... that is a better example (stole it off someone in the Parra thread)

Folau and Hayne were both born and grew up in Australia, they are Australians through and through. K.Hunt is a different story thou

Apologies on Folau, should have got my facts straight before mentioning his name. But why was Hayne allowed to play for Fiji then, that's my only issue with the eligibility. IMO you can't just go trading country's like that!

i thought it was ok to do just because it was the world cup. hayne didnt get picked for aus, and so was allowed to play for another nation. like jennings played for tonga, and other people did stuff too. i cant remember now lol
