FUIFUI Moimoi is serving a suspension. No, he isn't in trouble with the NRL judiciary again for a reckless act on the football field. Flatmate and fellow monster forward, or winger, Taniela Tuiaki says Moimoi is on a short leash.
"Fui is in lockdown," Taniela says out of earshot. "He's the biggest, meanest man in rugby league, but he has no voice here. He's a little woman. He can't do anything without asking the boss first."
The "boss" Tuiaki refers to is Moimoi's fiancee, Mara.
"They met at Taronga Zoo and have been with each other for a while," Tuiaki explains. "They are engaged and will get married in February. He's in lockdown, he can't go out on the weekend. I say to him 'bye bye, I'm going out', but he stays in lockdown. He is suspended."
Tuiaki reckons he will be best man at the wedding, if the honour doesn't instead go to another occupant introduced only as "Chef Keith".
Wests Tiger utility Tuiaki and Parramatta prop Moimoi have played each other twice at NRL level, with the latter earning bragging rights courtesy of two Eels wins.
"He doesn't want to talk [at home] after the game," Moimoi says. "I wanted to talk. I give it to him."
Tuiaki - voted the hardest man to tackle in Rugby League Week's players' poll - hopes to get revenge should the teams meet in the finals. "It's going to be good, the third-time meeting. It's time to get a result, get a win."
Moimoi adds: "I didn't get a chance to tackle him the last time we played. He's strong and fast - I might try to have a go."

if they are allowed to play for the kiwis it will be another example of the incompetent rlif failing to enforce their own rules. there is supposed to be a 2 year stand down period between representing 2 nations (which is way too short anyway, should be at least 5 or even better, 1 nation for life). these 2 have played for tonga and helped them qualify for the world cup in the last year, now because they are good they will be allowed to switch to the more powerful nation. the rlif (which is basically the arl), have no idea about international sport, and will probably let this happen.

But if these 2 join the Kiwis that would be an awesome addition to a already powerful

forward pack. 2 monster wingers with pace and strength on the out side...yes Aussies watch out!!

He's caught everything anybody's kicked at him for the last 2 months... seriously Vatuvei and Tuiaki in the side basically gives the Kiwis 8 forwards on the park, you've got two guys who can hit the ball up like a prop on the first couple of tackles of every set while the rest of the pack are still getting back onside, gives us a real advantage in go-forward.

What a crock that is mate.

If anything, the RLIF's stance in this has helped Tonga out. Fuifui Moimoi is out of Auckland, played union through Auckland, and was part of the Warriors development squad. It doesn't get much more Kiwi eligible than that.

Taniela Tuiaki was his partner in crime in midfield in Auckland playing union.

We're not talking born and bred Tongans here, we're talking players who have obvious lineage to Tonga but also have very strong ties, through either and or birth and upbringing in New Zealand.

I don't think Parramatta will keep Moi Moi if they have to sign Tuiaki. Especially as they would both want pretty big upgrades on their contracts.
