I heard that we play the Tigers at Campbelltown on February 21st?

Or it may just be the prem league side playing wests premier league side.

Even though our city council on the Gold Coast are a bunch of genetically defective brain dead morons, they will upgrade the stadium if an NRL team is based on the Gold Coast. They seem fairly desperate for it to happen. Apparently they almost cut a deal to relocate the Sharks down here. It wouldn't surprise me if it does happen sooner rather than later.

There's always rumours about the Sharks club having financial troubles. With no prizemoney in 35 or so years, I guess that's no surprise? I think they are prime candidates for "relocation" when the next NRL team applications/submissions are due...

Cararra is a dump IMO.....if there where to be an NRL side there in the future it will need a significant upgrade.

Gold Coast are very strongly rumoured to be entering a team in 2005. Even stronger now that the Beagles pulled out of Gosford.

Part of the deal is that Gold Coast City Council will be providing a significant upgrade of Carrara Stadium, as its only use at the moment is winter baseball as well as a few promotional games of various types.

For those of you who have been up here to watch Para in the trials, you may be familiar with this idiot that runs around the ground, called Captain Charger, the old Gold Coast Chargers mascot....feel free to kick his arse next time your up here. Last year he had a baloon stuck down his pants pretending he was well endowed, unitl someone stuck a pin in it.

At the moment it is costing GCCC alot of dough and very little return.

The promoter of Parras past few games up here, and well known player agent and local accountant, Mick Searle, who I played cricket with briefly, is behind the move.

Knowing him it will happen.

At least I'll get to see Parra more than once or twice a year.

All we heard up here Jess is that Brian Smith wanted to play more games up here due to the large following that the Eels have here. Doesn't seem to matter who we play against, the crowd seems to be mainly Eels supporters. He was talking mainly about trail games of course, as I don't think Carrara Oval would be up to an NRL game.

They also spend alot of time in pre season training at the Runaway Bay Sports Centre, on the Gold COast, which is an olympic trainaing venue with all the latest and greatest everyting, including sports psycologics and dieticians etc. They always have a stong presence, with promotions and media appearences. They also encourage kids and fans to attend their training sessions.

I believe that Parras support base is too strong at Parra. I don't think they would ever consider relocating.

The week (maybe 2 weeks, not sure) before the Warriors game the Eels are rumoured to have a trial match in Ballina! I'm not exactly sure who they're playing, maybe the Sharks or the Raiders...
