17. Iosefa/Romelo

I can't believe you couldn't find a spot for the hardest hitter in the game in Nigel Plum.

Are you discriminating against him because of his name.

I think we need to select our best available and fit 17 players and pick the side around those players.

Maybe that does mean playing Lewis at centre. Pritchard needs to be in the starting pack giving him extra responsibility and getting 60 minutes from him not 35 minutes.

Get Waterhouse into the front row with Petro and leave Bell out all together?

Coote, Gordon, Jennings, Lewis, Tighe, Burns, Walsh, Graham, Smith, Pritchard, Waterhouse, Kingston and Petro. Subs Sammut (Back Up Hooker), Laurie, Cooper & Plum/Bell/Puluea/McKendry etc etc.

Which ever combination you come up with the fact remains there are serious questions mark about the 1/6/7/9 combinations. Do we really have the quality to seriously compete for the premiership.

Wesser/Campbell/Gower/Priddis against Coote/Burns or Graham/Walsh/Kingston. We had quality in those positions in 2003/2004 we certainly don't have the same quality now so success remains a big if?

Heard supercoach on the Big Sports Breakfast the other morning.

Most of your probably missed it as he was on prior to the 7am news at which time you are all in bed because you don't have jobs!

It was very, very interesting what he had to say, but I'm not going to give away any secrets or reveal what he had to say because you guys need to get out of bed earlier and get a life.

I haven't had a chance to look at anyone elses sides yet but here goes!

1. Coote
2. Tighe/Purtell?
3. Jennings
4. Blair/Tighe?
5. Gordon
6. Graham
7. Walsh
8. Civoniceva
9. Iosefa/Kingston/Romelo
10. Puletua/Bell
11. Waterhouse
12. Pritchard
13. Lewis

14. Iosefa/Kingston/Romelo
15. Grant/Laurie/Puletua/Bell
16. Smith/Plum
17. Grant/Laurie/Puletua/Bell

I'd like to see Bell start again with Laurie and Grant on the bench. Smith will get a spot simply because Elliott loves him.

Iosefa and Kingston will probably end up being the two hookers.

Plum is missing the first four rounds too with a busted toe. Laurie may miss some time as well which will make it harder for both to crack into the squad.

Good! Hopefully the bloke will get a fair crack there
How does the Windsor player of the year be the only forward not given a go in FG the following season.

It's a real shame for Andrew Pearn I would have liked to have seen given at least one outing in the top grade to see what he could do. The sad reality of the modern game is that it is very, very cutthroat, and the Andrew Pearn situation is not unique. There are many others like him, with equal ability, accross many of the NRL squads who fall by the wayside by this ridiculous under 20 Toyota Cup. Bring back the Under 19 Flegg or make it under 20 Flegg and make the Toyota Cup Under 23's. Simple, but it ain't ever gonna happen.

if the penny's play to their potential, they'll easily win more than they lose..that's IF!

Agreed, if we play to our potential we can make 7th or 8th (probably no higher than that).
If we don't play to our potential then probably 9th - 13th (hopefully no lower than that lol).

I think it's fair to say we have had decent playing rosters since 2004 and have finished 9th and backwards from there.

In the two most recent seasons we were placed to make a run for the eight in the latter rounds only to self destruct in the most unflattering manner.

It's hard to put your finger on the reasons why and I have heard and read any number of excuses why this has occurred. There are just excuses at the end of the day and the inescapable truth of the matter is we simply haven't been good enough and our form at home has been atrocious.

I keep hearing how well we have recruited and I hope the club is proven right. I can't help feeling however the recruits are journeymen and castoffs.

Dane Laurie could be good value if he improves his attitude.

Travis Burns is solid and dependable and good for depth in the halves.

Kevin Kingston had a great season for the Eels in 2009 so you would hope he would continue in the same sort of form in 2010.

Purtell, Simmons and Plum have serious question marks about there being of true first grade quality. Yes they add depth but retaining Tia Kilifi and Aiton and Moors would probably have achieved the same outcome.
