I think a top 4 finish is not beyond us. We have a forward pack that matches any in the comp, once we get full cohesion in the backline
we will be a force to be reckoned with. Again with the origin excuse
maybe if there were 2 teams in the brisbane area the broncos might
not have to foot so much of the bill for origin, then again if they
had to share the talent in brisbane they wouldnt be much of a worry
now would they

lol, I always love comments that the Broncos wouldn't be a force if a second team moved in. What rubbish, Funny how we are still a top 4 side even though we have to compete with clubs like the Roosters and Storm who have feeder clubs in Redcliffe and Norths in the area.

One must defend his club 8)
Theres plenty, I found a webpage that listed the feeder clubs from 2001. Auckland have Souths Magpies, Canterbury have Logan City, Melbourne have Norths, Newcastle have Burleigh, Parramatta have the Central Comets, the Roosters have Redcliffe and Brisbane of course have the Clydesdales.

Brisbane have the biggest advantage out of every club in the NRL. They are a one team town with a good quality second tier competition and regardless of who is aligned with who, the Broncos will always get the cream of the crop.

They also don't mind pillaging the North Queensland area for a lot of their juniors. Hopefully with the Cowboys starting to emerge as a genuine force, some of the kids might think twice before signing on with the Broncos.

The only North Queensland juniors we've got that I know of are Scott Minto, Scott Prince, Brett Seymour and Gordon Tallis.
The whole point of the feeder clubs is that the NRL clubs get first dibs at the players.

This really is a pointless arguement that has been fought many times to discredit anything the club and those involved with it have achieved. I'm sure if the Warriors continue their success we'll start to hear about how they have a whole national comp as well as a Queensland feeder club. Then again we won't because play mr nice guy.

I know this is a Raiders thread but the Broncos get the best juniors because every kid in Qld wants to play for them. If you're a kid and the Cowboys and Broncos both offer you the same deal, whom would you go to?

Hermy, I like the Broncos but I think they need a second team in Sth East Qld to battle the emergence of AFL due to the success of the Brisbane Lions.

Brisbane and th Gold Coast are big enough to support two teams. There must be 1.5-2 millions people in the surrounding areas and a second team would be welcomed by those who do not support the Broncos.

I also think there is moe talent around now than 8 years ago when the ill fated Crushers took to the field.

If you have a look at Saints, Penrith, Canberra and the Dogs, there are enough good young blokes to start another team. That and stop the mass exodus to England evry year and in five years we could reallistically look at 20 teams again.

Legend you won't get any arguement from me on a second team. My point has been that Brisbane will remain competitive even if a second team is there. We've continued to be successful with the Crushers and the Gold Coast and with every man and his dog having a feeder club in the area.

I also think a Brsbane derby would be great for the game up there but it can't be a big brother/little brother type scenario we saw with the Broncos and Chargers.

It would be nice to see to evenly matched adversaries and in todays paper, it says a Gold Coast consortium made sumbissions to the NRL about a second team for Sth East Qld for 2006.

The NRL were receptive to the idea and are also in favour of a Central Coast side.

I figure by 2006, one Sydney team will relocate and a new franchise will be created to scrap the dreaded bye and give us 16 teams.

A 16 team competition would really send the game in a forward direction. It should be the next priority for David Gallop and his boys.

Along the lines of the other thread where do you think the Raiders will finish after 26 rounds?

Before the start of the season i predicted 6th and i would have been very happy with that. After seeing how much progress we have made as a club in the off-season translate itself on the field with our current position on the ladder, i would be very disappointed with anything outside the top 4. One thing i must say is that we have been pretty fortunate that we haven't had any serious injuries to key players for extended periods. Our forward depth is fine but we would struggle with the backs.

I unfortunately can’t see the raiders cracking the top 8 in 2020
