Barba wanted the release didn't he?

It was a plan and it failed. Same as we had a plan for Fifita and it failed when the dogs stole him... then it turned out ok.

The joys of a salary cap, win some lose some.

Sure did.

Must be a few that want to adjust our finishing position, although it's still early days.

you can pay whatever you like to non registered players in any capacity you like. Barba was out of the NRL This was shown by the fact that they would not start his sspension until he had a registered contract. ie. He was no longer a player.
Many current managers are also talent scouts & get paid TWICE for signings.

If you don't think that's cheating the salary cap you're kidding yourself. It would still be forcing us to pay full freight for half a player with a track record of f**king up.

I know its not cheating the salary cap. Ferguson was paid for a year while in roosters colours. Not included in cap. Carney is another was paid by Roosters. Manly paid that boxer dude. Broncos paid that front rower last year. Warriros paid Foran all off season. All excluded from cap.
We didnt have to pay full freight. So we didn't. So he went. Are you not seeing the picture of why we lost the best fullback in the game? Geezus.

Ferguson and Carney were both signed by the roosters but unable to play until the following season due to the NRL refusing to register their contracts.

Both players probably did receive payment in those years they were sitting out, but it was either under the table or it would have been included in the cap. You don't think such a system wouldn't be open to abuse if clubs were allowed to do that?

I understand Barba left for financial reasons, but as far as I'm concerned paying him half a contract for half a season is good business. Paying him 700K and getting half a season out of him EVEN IF only half that was included in the salary cap is still a dumb decision. Especially for a player with a proven track record of f**king up off the field.

And when we lose this years grand final by 2 points or miss getting in by 2 points, how will your "smart business" decision look? Its dumb. & how the club got into 50 years of doldrums in the first place.
Dumb beyond comprehension.
Proven track record. FMD. The guys had 2 indiscretions & has never been suspended or convicted of doing anything wrong. He had 1 bad year where he got caught up in a wives scandal. End of story. & the fact that this indesction only cost him 10 weeks is testament to how insignificant it was. Fafita came close to getting banned for life over a sticker. Fined $75k Gallen fined $50 k for calling a grub a F/wit. corey Norman banned for 8 weeks for having dinner?
Carney banned for life for an invasion of privacy in a mock photo.
Funnily enough, the smart business decsions you support are also the same smart business decisions that are going to cost the club plenty with Carney. PLENTY!
In the end, that dumb decision was a golden stroke of good fortune , because we landed the best fullback in teh comp at half price. Good luck, not good management.
The next "good business" decision that WASN"T made , was the calling from the likes of yourself, to trade barba after 2015 after he struggled with injury & positional change all year & refferred to as fat & disinterested.
yes our club, is littered with "good business" decisions, the likes of yours, but in the end, it was , it was pure luck & bad business decisions that landed us the trophy. On the back of the best fullback in the NRL.

If you're going to live in fantasy land why not think positive? Like Holmes becoming the greatest fullback of all time scoring 1000 trys for the club? Or how about our front of jersey sponsor balloons to 5 million a year off the back of no on field indiscretions.

Suspensions any convictions are not the be all and end all.

If he tested positive a third time he faced a life ban from the game. He was previously suspended or dropped in his time at the Bulldogs.

When did anyone ever say Fifita faced a life ban? Stop making shit up mate.

Corey was suspended for pleading guilty to the possession of prohibited drugs, nothing to do with having dinner with anyone.

When did I ever say we should get rid of Barba?

They have ballooned because we won. A steady , minimal build before then, in line with all other clubs & the economy.
Nobody walked because of Gallen. Nobody walked because of Fafita (3 NRL suspensions)

Not by the NRL, he wasn't.

Fafita said it himself. he was off to union because he thought the NRL was going to ban him for life & he said they said as much.
Corey was suspended for pleading guilty to the possession of prohibited drugs, nothing to do with having dinner with anyone.
The head of the NRL integrity unit, Nick Weeks, said the penalty was also related to a police warning for consorting with criminals, and filming and distributing video of incidents involving apparent drug use and sexual activity.
When did I ever say we should get rid of Barba?
By agreeing that we halve is salary. It was a dumb decision that only one outcome. him leaving if a better offer, one that he was looking for if he was paid correctly, came along.

That's true, but repeat incidents make it only a matter of time.

Not by the NRL, he wasn't.

I never said it was the NRL. The fact is he was stood down by the bulldogs and spent time at a rehab. In addition to that in his time with us he tested positive to drugs twice. Add to that allegations (never proven of course) of domestic violence and they don't really paint a great picture of his off field life do they.

Fafita said it himself. he was off to union because he thought the NRL was going to ban him for life & he said they said as much.

The fact he said it means nothing. You said he came close to getting banned for life. Instead he was left at home for a Kangaroos tour.

The head of the NRL integrity unit, Nick Weeks, said the penalty was also related to a police warning for consorting with criminals, and filming and distributing video of incidents involving apparent drug use and sexual activity.
Also being the key word there,

By agreeing that we halve is salary. It was a dumb decision that only one outcome. him leaving if a better offer, one that he was looking for if he was paid correctly, came along.

Again I never said we should get rid of Barba, I also never said we should boot him after 2015 as claimed by you.

When in doubt just make shit up and deflect aye?
