Presentation.

We went to presentations last night and as expected it was rather a lacklustre affair. People were still positive and gave the team plenty of support, cheering and clapping. Danny nutley got the award for the night and the team looked pretty upset.

A truly appalling sight however was seeing members of the board hovering around on the outskirts of stage on ground level, all having a good laugh and smiles all round. We were trying to fathom what the hell they were so happy about.

ANY SUGGESTIONS???

Bring back deano, stuff that bring back Peter Gow

The board were happy because they have just negotiated themselves a 25% pay rise. That's all I can think.

And Nutley won the award?

Well I guess the performance was pedestrian and uninspiring so it should go to the man who epitomises that.

spot on shadowboxer, the presentation was an absolute DISGRACE and the president and ceo couldnt put two words together that made any sense.
instead of being forthright we got an assurance that the team was trying to fix things and stick with us etc.
i was amazed at the total lack of professionalism shown by rogers and peirce, and for nutley to have the hide to tell a heckler to pull his head in was the icing on the cake.
nutley should pull his head in because he is not a first graders jock strap on what he has shown this season.
some high profile people at cronulla should be on notice.

extremely interesting post Shadow. I made a point in a new thread this morning before i read this about 2 board members, easily recognisable, having a beer and laugh in the sheds during the sunday footy shows post match interviews.

This is what i find unforgivable.

fans can cop the team playing like reserve grade or worse, we will always support our club. But fans start to walk when they see those in charge treat them with contempt. if the board don't hurt after a loss like that, then they shouln't be on the f**king board of our club.

Show some f**king brains and decorem Barry, Jim,Don etc etc and stop taking the easy, gutless stance each bad loss after each bad loss. Stop getting up there and tongueing LG in your speeches and show some genuine empathy and affection for your true fans , the good hard earned they pay each week to support their team, and the fact they hurt 50 times more than you blockheads up in your free box seat do when we get belted.

When's the next AGM? You gotta wonder if these blokes can keep their jobs after the last 18 months or so.

What's going on???

what about when barry or sludge (cant remember who) was giving the speech on behalf of one of the players (cant remember who - too drunk) and he interrupted to say "and i know he'd like to thank his sponsors" and then listed them

nuts told a bloke to " pull his head in", because he told nuts to " pull his head in ang have a go on the field "

who has the right to be critical ?

the guy who earns $200,000 of club money a year to carry the greatest privelage in sport any of us here would ever dream of ? ( run out onto shark park in a blue black and white jumper for first grade )

or the guy who's support earns that money to allow that player to play eaxh week for a big pay, by doing his 50 hours a week, paying his parking money, spending $40 for the family to get into the ground and another $20-$30 for a few beers , big league and a bite to eat ?

f**k that, nuts can show some respect next time a died in the wool fan wants to express his frustration, they did just get BELTED BY THE WINLESS COWBOYS 7 DAYS AFTER BEING BELTED BY SOUTHS !!!!!!!!!!

cop it on the chin nuts!

I thought it must have been SS that was told to pull his head in. Nutley should be dropped immediately. We have better blokes coming through like Green, J & R Williams, Dumas, Galloway, and those blokes have alot more potential. Nutley has reached his.

Remember how Mat Rogers said (in his book I think) that it always worried him that the team would lose, yet get treated like superheroes back at the presentation after the game?

Wasn't THIS the thing Anderson was hired to get rid of? Wasn't THIS the reason our board took us down this path? Wasn't the plan to get rid of sportsmanship and win at all costs, and to do away with this 'hero worship' of a team that was (allegedly) always happy with second-best?

How ironic. I sit here typing away while the replay of the Penrith-Melbourne game is on Fox. Preston's 100th first grade game. Coach Lang FURIOUS at the end of the game, disappointed with his cattle despite the win. Expecting nothing but the best from them.

Hell, he always did that here. But he was the reason we never won anything. Apparently.

Interesting observation Shark. Although there is a big difference between cheering and heckling, but maybe having fans letting the players know that it ain't good enough instead of cheering and saying "it's okay boys, we still luv ya" might wake these guys up.

I think it's gonna be a long winter! :(

Barry Pierce and Steve Rogers have to be two of the biggest tools on this planet (followed closely by Bob Carr & P DIddy, Phil Gould).

I saw the sunday footie show as well and your are right beeker, when gibbs was interviewing i think either kimmorley or raper, it was quite obvious in the background memers of the board were standing around swiling crownies and laughing and carrying on.

I actually had a great night on saturday night with my mates haveing a few beers at the club and this worrys me. It worrys me becasue im starting not to care or be passionate about the team. I still think time is on Rapers side but when they play like saturday with no spark at all it makes you wonder why spend the dollars going.

You sum up my feelings too there shadow.

we dont want to become like the cowboys fans, I go up there for an away trip each year and honestly, they couldnt give a hoot how the boys go. They get interested for a while, then when things turn bad they just get on the drink, eat pies and sing along to the PA !

You blokes have all just nailed what us poor, stupid, dispairing Shark fans are feeling. It made me crook in the guts to see these ruddy-faced nothings having a beer and a joke in the sheds afterwards.

What sort of expletives & outbursts would there be if that was the Roosters sheds? I'd near guarantee punches would have been flying. Maybe these blokes know what is ahead for 2004 and thought that the loss against the mighty powerful Cowboys would be one of the seasons highlights.
