STEVE PRICE WILL NOT PLAY IN 2004 GRAND FINAL

Steve Price has succumbed to medial ligament damage in his left knee today
after confirmation of the extent of his injury occured at training today.

After receiving condemning news earlier in the week from the Bulldogs
medical staff, Steve continued to seek the miracle that would ensure a birth
in the 2004 NRL Telstra Grand Final. At Bulldogs team training session,
Belmore Sports Ground today Steve realised that his knee was not capable to
withstand a game of Rugby League after several drills and finally
acknowledged that he will not lead his beloved Bulldogs into Sunday's match.

' Hugh Hazard (Bulldogs Team Doctor) broke the news to me earlier this week
regarding my medial ligament requiring surgery. I was shattered at hearing
the news and requested further time to seek any solution if there was one.
Unfortunately there is not a miracle or a fairytale ending, i searched every
avenue but i now realise that i will not play in the Grand Final. Steve
Price said.

' The build up to this match has been incredible and i'm glad i've been a
part of it. The Club that i love and have committed the last 12 years to are
well set to make the most of the opportunity given to them on Sunday. The
players will play for each other, the coach and represent the Canterbury
Bankstown region in the same way they have done all year. I'm very proud of
all the players'. Steve Price said.

Had Steve Price not challenged that one week suspension and been let off. He would indeed have been playing in the GF. Strange how quickly good news turns to bad.

Both sides have lost the player that is the heart and soul of the team. So it evens out. But it is a pity.

Not a great surprise, but a disappointment and I'm neither a Dogs or Roosters supporter.

However if you recall another Warriors recruit wasn't supposed to play for 4-6 weeks when his club had only 1 game left in the season... I don't condone the overuse of alcoholic beverages but someone get Pricey some kava!

I'm sure thats true

It is. Go to the Bulldogs website. I thought it was a gee-up when I first read it because it didn't look like an official article, but it is.

It's a tough pill to swallow but that's league. I honestly wanted him to play because you can say alot of things about the bulldogs but Price is someone that can hold his head up high.

Yeah its real shame for Pricey his goal was to lead his Bulldogs side to a premiership, which he probably wouldve done so in 2002 if it werent for the salary cap rort. But lets not forget hes a real inspiration to the team and has done very well to get his side in a Grand Final. Its just a shame he's gonna miss out, the Bulldogs think they can do it without their captain but its gonna be tough with Price.

So with Price out of the GF, does this also he is unlikely to play in the Tri-Series?
