STEVE PRICE WILL NOT PLAY IN 2004 GRAND FINAL
Steve Price has succumbed to medial ligament damage in his left knee today
after confirmation of the extent of his injury occured at training today.
After receiving condemning news earlier in the week from the Bulldogs
medical staff, Steve continued to seek the miracle that would ensure a birth
in the 2004 NRL Telstra Grand Final. At Bulldogs team training session,
Belmore Sports Ground today Steve realised that his knee was not capable to
withstand a game of Rugby League after several drills and finally
acknowledged that he will not lead his beloved Bulldogs into Sunday's match.
' Hugh Hazard (Bulldogs Team Doctor) broke the news to me earlier this week
regarding my medial ligament requiring surgery. I was shattered at hearing
the news and requested further time to seek any solution if there was one.
Unfortunately there is not a miracle or a fairytale ending, i searched every
avenue but i now realise that i will not play in the Grand Final. Steve
Price said.
' The build up to this match has been incredible and i'm glad i've been a
part of it. The Club that i love and have committed the last 12 years to are
well set to make the most of the opportunity given to them on Sunday. The
players will play for each other, the coach and represent the Canterbury
Bankstown region in the same way they have done all year. I'm very proud of
all the players'. Steve Price said.
