Might not deserve its own thread....But on the C9 after game interview, when asked about the crowd, with a straight face he responds "Yeah...Would have been nice if they had been here all year" (or much the same)

Just a little jab to the ribs from the Warriors captain.

He's bloody right. It annoys me, I watch them every week on tv and see crowds of about 13k all year long and I assume a lot of them are the same supporters. Then all of a sudden they make the finals and everyone is their biggest supporter and want to go to the games. Then you hear hundreds of people complain about not getting tickets or having to pay 3 times the price.

Tickets were $60 each for the Upper West where I was last night, so for a family of 2 Adults 3 kids would have been $210. A Season Membership for next season for a Family in the same seats is $440. That is only just double the price and you get to see 12 games plus a priority for finals tickets.

My attitude is that it is an entertainment.
If you provide good entertainment you get a good crowd.
Some of the football they dished up didn't deserve any supporters.
That said, when they play well the crowd flocks back.
It's called market forces.

Oh, they also get a lot of money for TV rights!

Would people have preffered if there was only the usual 12k people there? Way i see it for a lot of people in NZ not all of them have Warriors as their first team i know i lot of family that support the Broncos and the Raiders since the 80's but still throw their support behind the Warriors.

Not at all. All I am saying is that I don't see any reason for resentment against fair weather supporters.
They are all potential season ticket holders if the standard remains this high.
After all Eden Park sells a lot of season tickets.

I don't know how true that's likely to be, to be honest. I've been a Warriors fan since the beginning and get along to games whenever I can, but for a variety of reasons I can't make it to all of the games either. I'd imagine that a lot of other people are in the same boat. The crowd certainly wouldn't have been made up of 13,000 people who go to every game and 14,000 who only became Warriors fans last week.

pretty much spot on..

Get over it, imo. The All Blacks don't play 12 odd home games a year, and of course they'll always get big crowds...

It wouldn't have been a sellout without these 'fair-weathers'... some came from far and wide to be there AKA can't make it to every game. If the Warriors put performances on the board, they will get the numbers.

End of.
