Prince happy as long-term Tiger
By DEAN RITCHIE in Manchester
November 15, 2005
SCOTT Prince inspired by his club's retention of superstar Benji Marshall yesterday revealed he was ready to stay at the Wests Tigers for possibly the next five years.
In an exclusive interview with The Daily Telegraph , Prince said he wanted to stay a Wests Tiger and would hopefully announce a deal by the start of next season.
Kangaroo tourist Prince and Penrith's Craig Gower will fight for the halfback spot in Sunday morning's crucial Tri-Nations Test match against Great Britain in Hull.
Asked would Marshall's decision influence his future, Prince said: "Most definitely. Knowing Benji will be there for the next three years makes the Wests Tigers appealing that's for sure.
"I want to stay. Benji staying is great for the game and great for the fans.
"We are great mates on and off the field. I hope we can improve individually and collectively as a halves combination.
"It's hard to find two halves who complement each other. The bottom line now is just to get the right deal and come up with a mutual agreement.
"It would also be nice to know whether (coach) Tim Sheens will be staying."
Over five years, there is little doubt Prince could attract a deal worth around $1.6 million.
Prince, 25, said he did not want to worry about yearly contracts and would be seeking a deal for between three and five years.
His current deal expires at the completion of next season.
