A complete one eyed moron. So long as RL is in Sydney with 28000 at an international game (when the Waratahs get more to a Stupid 12 game) , then Im happy syndrome!

Get a brain on your way out pal. Melbourne is here to stay, so roll on Perth!

And had more empty seats than the Olympic Park Grandstand that face the the TV.

Kiddies, it's the first season of a massively promoted new fandangled competition. Of course it's going to draw well. How about we compare notes in 3-4 seasons?

I reckon that for most of the year AFL owns Victoria...That is why the Storm are not drawing a big enough support base...The only people that support the storm are the Ex-Pat northerners.

The NRL needs to do more to promote the sport in Victoria.

Another thing...

Why did the Adelaide Rams fall appart?

Cos of the AFL..

Why did the Perth Reds fall appart?

Once again cos of the AFL...

I think it was sad that these two clubs fell appart cos I wanted to see these two clubs succeed in AFL County

SUPER LEAGUE, and p*ss poor management. The ARL did a hatchet job by introducing a Perth team and forcing so many financial burdens on it, which saw them turn, and Adelaide was a rushed and poorly concieved, probably introduced a decade too early. They stood no chance in the environment of the mid-late 1990's.

Perth going defunct had nothing to do with AFL. There are more than enough 'rugby' fans over here to support 2 clubs, hence why there will be another chance at getting a franchise in WA, as well as the rah rahs too.

AFL season is over.

Glad to see all you Melbourne bashers just went past the most logical post in this whole thread.

AFL and Rugby League seasons clash, so with all of the Storm games clashing with AFL matches in the AFL heartland, of course it will struggle to get crowds. Soccer is currently up against no other rival code, which makes it alot easier to get fans in. They don't have to choose between options.

Fact:
90% of AFL followers hate League. I live in an AFL obssessed city. They deliberately say they prefer union than League as a stubborness.

Well, the round ball game is sh*t, and any ethnic minorities that bring this perversion to Australia's fine shores should be sent on the first boat back to Beirut.
I love rugby league but your comment is very narrow minded. You could say the same about all the different varieties of food we now have in this country thanks to the "ethnic minorities".

You have a lot to learn.

May I see a reference for that please, sir?

Olympic Park in Melbourne was sold out for the Sydney FC v Melbourne A-League match. If Soccer can get 20 000 in why does Rugby League draw in less than 5 000????

Why? Because Rugby League is NOT and WILL NOT work in Melbourne

When does the Storm draw less than 5,000 you clown? Their average is almost 9,000 up against the AFL season. And when did the soccer get 20,000? Their crowds have been 18k twice and 13k. The storm were the team to get over 20k at Olympic Park for their first game, not the melbourne soccer team.
Go buy a soccer team fitzy or better still a Super 14 team!! Your false spin is sickening.
Minor premiers Parramatta got an 8k crowd on a fine Sunday this year which was shocking in league heartland.

Don't mind the questioning of the Mebournes public in embracing RL

But the statement that RL draws less than 5,000 proves you are an idiot with no idea of what your on about.

Thankyou.
The end.

But face it Soccer definately has a larger hardcore supporter base than RL.
especially in Melb.

Geez, blind freddy could see a thread like this comming.

Comparing the two is useless, Soccer is way more popular in Melbourne than Rugby League is, so its a given the Melbournes soccer team will get more people through the gate than the RL team. Although its still early days remember. Obviously it helps that only horse racing/cricket is on at this time of the year.

Although like others said, any credibility in your post went when you stated that we only get 5,000 to games.. ludicrous.

Hmmm Soccer has been well established in Melbourne for decades ,due to the large Italian,Greek and other European population as it is in sydney>Rugby league has only really been established from 1998 with no promotion and no development. That is about to change from next year onwards with $23m injected into development and promotion.
BTW the storm had 21,000 in their first match against Nth Sydney, the victory hasnt even cracked that mark yet.
Next dumb question please ?
