You do realise that your boy Hodges butchered like 2 trys but simply not actually passing.
But I agree, Slater isn't fast enough anymore.

Both of them should be out, but Slater was hopeless when the game was on the line. Our best game last year was when Inglis played FB!

Slater was probably our best player, we weren't far away tonight. If DCE had 10 days training at half back we win that game. Only a bit of cohesion and structure finishing off sets cost us.

I don't understand this thread. QLD never chop and change when they lose. So much confusion.

Actually Slater has been slowing down for about 3 years now.
He's still a great fullback and an asset but the team will have to change their set plays because he can't pull them off anymore.
It isn't something he can help, just getting older physically.

I counted 3 times that DCE had to run to the line as nobody was running onto him. I don't see how he cops the blame. He puts on a try if someone catches the pill from 10m out. While he wasn't great, he was far from the worst half for QLD tonight.

Loving the panic setting in from Moron fans. Keep it coming... It is normally the Blues fans doing it.

I doubt anyone is actually panicking....I mean...not to take anything away from the blues win...but we lost our halfback and lost by 4 points....i thought we'd get flogged.

You Greggie fans really need to give up on the fantasy that Inglis is still fast.

Bloke got run down by 2 forwards when he scored that try against Brisbane (just ones that couldn't tackle)

Slater had his best origin game in a few years IMO

I do agree they need to find a way to get inglis more involved though

Some sets they need to do likethe roosters mini/RTS an get him at fullback

Seriously, Slater is so slow now, he has lost his one asset. Slater dead set butchered 3 tries tonight! Inglis fullback, Chambers centre NOW. McQueen out, Thaiday in. Thankfully CE is going to be halfback, shoul have been there anyway!

Are you serious...you blokes win 8 series straight...lose 1 game tonight and you want Inglis at fullback....tell where do you propose to play Slater then.

locky knows.

Slater was made to look good by blokes falling over and then he f**ked up every chance he got. In Origin you need to make the most of every chance because you get so few and he doesn't have the agility any more to do that.

This is a change that needs to happen. Father Time and injury have caught up to Billy this year. His knee is obviously not up to this level.

Queensland loyalty

Slater was Qld's best tonight and you guys want to drop him?

If Greg Inglis wanted to play fullback then I think he basically sabotaged his chances tonight buy setting up Boyd twice. No way will Mal drop him now.

No doubt Inglis would be better at FB but the coaching from Queensland has to come up with ways to get him the ball early in the tackle count and from closer out then 20-30mtrs.

It seems since Hagan stepped in the offensive structure has become very basic and mundane.

The play where Inglis came from behind and ran-around - similar to a fullback - led to a the "almost" try to Boyd.

Queensland just has to plan to get the ball to him in space - early ball. In fact, both him and Hodges. Whether that means bringing them closer to the middle - don't know - but playing wide gave NSW time to move up in their faces.

Consider it's been several months since Inglis has played centre - and he was found out in defence for Morris's second try - fell over in fact.

Of course Queensland's attack was "basic and mundane" in this game - they lost their halfback after 10 minutes!

to be fair we placed cronk with the inform halfback of the comp over the last 2 years. He was found wanting but still, we didn't exavtly get left with rocks.

All of Queensland's set players would have been practiced over-and-over with Cronk and Thurston in the middle. From what he said after full-time Cherry-Evans only practised at dummy half.

So all your meat heads who think any player can come in and call the shots on set plays he's never practised are not in the real world.

I would expect a big improvement on the Queensland performance overall if DCE actually practises as half-back before Game 2. I would also expect a big improvement in he game of Inglis as he gets his centre play sorted out again.

What do you do though? Do you rotate Inglis and Slater perhaps?

Hodges got the ball plenty, he goes ahead and takes it himself or receives the pass in attack and diffuses it.
He might as well be a prop forward with how much he passes.
