It seems eleven people have now lost their jobs as a result of the ASADA inquisition at our club. Would a death stop this incessant scalp hunting??? I doubt it.
`Whatever it takes!".
Yep, `It might as well rain until September'. Thank you, Carole.

I read in the paper on the weekend that the number of Cronulla players in question has been reduced from the 14 down to 10.

I think the lawyers may have saved us. That article in the paper about locking players up for not complying tells me that most players are staying stum, and ASADA needed testimony to back up emails and texts (which is what they have). I doubt very much that there are any truly incriminating texts or emails from players. To nail someone they would need something like

" Hey mate, I took supplement/123 on this date and then stopped on this dateso that I could beat an ASADA test"

That's very different from a trainer saying;

"Hey is that new stuff causing bruising?" Or "are you taking goats blood? Yeah it's good man"

That sort of comment with witnesses rolling might be enough to get a conviction, but with no admissions, no positive tests and no directly damning correspondence, ASADA might be in trouble.

Anyone see 4 Corners. Painted a strong picture that ASADA can't prove much, if anything.

Yes - Talk about drawing a long bow

Shane Charter receives death threats, becomes emotionally distraught when asked to discuss them, yet speaks freely about all at hand.

It was interesting and one has to assume the text message from Dank to Charter holds weight, otherwise Charter will be bent over with a defamation suit.

One thing did ring loud and clear, masking agents seemingly are one step ahead of the testing authorities, notwithstanding the understanding of how to flush the body in ample time prior to a test.

If they couldn't stick a charge on Curtis Johnson after his 'joking' admissions via text message, then one has to highly doubt they will get anyone.

For the first time in a while I have a little hope that the player managers legal advice to shut up and ride thestorm may actually work

But then I look at how spooked the last board got by the club legals and start to worry again

Haha, a well-deserved boo it was too.

Haha how obvious was it he was lying when he was like "ah man I was joking, it was just a joke."

It was like body language 101 how NOT to lie.

of course it will work.
The entire kerfuiffle has been about scaring people & making them jump at Shadows.
The previous board disintegrated because they fell for it.
The Sharks players have not taken anything banned or illegal has been my summation all along & its getting stronger all the time.
Can you imagine the Questions that ASADA are now able to ask of the players?
I reckon they might be able to get the players name out of them, thats about it.

The thing that really f**ks me off about this whole saga is that bungling, bureaucratic interference that has blurred the lines of actual care for the elite sporting community.

They have failed dismally, this is a FACT.

I dont know what actual evidence ASADA have in regards to the a club or individuals that have knowingly cheated to obtain some sort of advantage, to either remain at a higher level of sporting achievement or to gain some sort of advantage over an oppostion etc.

What I do know is that they have already damaged real families, sports clubs like ours and quite a large chunk of the Australian sporting public without naming one single person or player responsible for any wrong doing.

It's a complete and utter beat up by a department that has failed to deliver and is that far behind sports science and forgotten the real reason that these depts are set up in the first place.

To protect young people from harm.

FAIL!!!!

I get the impression asada themselves didn't seek this outcome and are as much a victim of the unintended consequence of what was probably an innocent press diversion in the Craig Thomson week

I think if all parties had their time over again they would not have done it

Many pundits have been saying all along that this affair was a diversionary tactic by the Federal Govt. to get their failures and rubbish off the front page prior to an upcoming polling week. The tactic was so successful that it has destroyed the lives of some, and brought unhappiness to the lives of many, many others. Public reaction to the affair was vented in the reception Kate Lundy received from the crowd at the recent Test match. So it seems, it doesn't matter who gets hurt, or even who it kills (heart attacks, strokes, etc.....and maybe even suicides). In the immortal words of Graham Richardson "Whatever it takes!" Whatever it takes for what, Popper??? Retention of power, Stupid!
