Dodge, its OK mate, we don't have to over engineer it just yet. ;-)

In basic terms, the PVP is a trial series.

I'll be naming the draw tonight.

LOL, just reducing confusion for myself and any other I suppose, just seeing where the competition stands at this point in time

No worries guys, list updated :D

2005 Possibles vs Probables Tournament

PVP_shield.gif

The 2005 Forum Sevens Possibles v Probables (PVP) tournament is open to all all comers. It is made up of newcomer teams who will compete against established F7s teams who have agreed to take part in the PVP.

The PVP is effectively a series of trial matches before the 2006 season kicks off.

This is the second PVP. The first PVP was staged in 2004 and concluded with a PVP Cup Final in 2005.

The idea behind the PVP is to give teams an opportunity to show that they can field a full team and play at a level where they can compete in the full Forum Sevens competition of 2006.

The PVP also allows for new referees to gain experience prior to the 2006 season.

Win lose or draw, the PVP teams with the best organisation will be considered when the invitations for the 2006 Forum Sevens competition are issued, early in the New Year.

Winning the PVP is not the main criteria, although it obviously helps.
Teams are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the rules.

The PVP tournament is designed so that each team gets a minimum of two matches.

The Teams

The newcomers (possibles):
The NZ Warriors
The Chuck Norris Texas Death Ninjas (formerly known as 'K' Krows)
The Covell Brigade
The Dragons (previously the Red Vs in the 2002 F7s comp)

Some current teams (probables):
The Newtown Bluebags
The Newcastle Knights (relocated, formerly The Glebe Dirty Reds)
The Parramatta Eels
The Cronulla Sharks (replacing The Central Coast Bears)

The Draw

Round 1:
Sunday 30 October - Wednesday 9 November (9pm Syd time)
Game A
Warriors v Newcastle

Game B
Ninjas v Eels

Game C
Covell v Bluebags

Game D
Dragons v Sharks

Round 2 (Semi-finals):
Sunday 13 November - Wednesday 23 November (9pm Syd time)
Game E
Winner A v Winner B

Game F

Game G

Round 3 (Finals):

Round 4 CHALLENGE MATCH (Cup Final):

Okay, a little change in plans for a big result...

Whilst organising the Central Coast Bears team for next year, the team and I feel in the interest of the game, and in the interest in having a competitive team with plenty of players, we would like to turn this club into the former, pre-established Forum 7s club - the mighty 2004 GF reaching Cronulla Sharks F7s side.

We are still interested in playing PvP, but the Bears are now the Sharks.

Hope this doesn't effect anything. Can't see why it would be.

Should be an interesting tournament. The Knights will be out to make a solid impression against a side they fought against for a place last year.

The Cup match is a 'challenge match' agreeable to both captains.

That means the Plate winners have to throw down the challenge to the Shield winners.

The Shield winners are undefeated and if they wish, can walk away as PVP champs.

Strictly speaking, the Shield winners don't have to accept the challenge but in the court of F7s opinion, would look like wimps if they walked away. But its understandable if they don't want to overwork their players.

The Bulls and the Raiders solved this problem last season by playing the PVP Cup in the opening round of the F7s premiership. It was a great idea and the draw accomodated them.
