Are dead, because gutless referee's will not penalise markers who are either offside or not square.

I lost count of how many times R.Farah should of got a penalty/made a break and again tonight Buderus was robbed of penalties.

Manly werent square many many times, I was screamin offside at the TV.....quick ptb's and metres from dummy half are rarer than scrums against the head now.

Its a joke, instead of smart hookers like Farah & Buderus gaining penalties/line breaks they are punished by losing a tackle, making minimal ground and slowing the play down further.

The whole play the ball was messy. But at least we weren't seeing penalty after penalty for that aspect of the game.

So Wests and Newcastles markers are never off side? it's not just these 2 hookers that miss out it happens to all teams.

Sure, but Farah and Buderus would both be in the top 3 runners out of dummy half in the game. Obviously refs allowing markers to tackle when they aren't square will impact upon them more heavily than other players.

I remember one scoot in particular by Buderus were Burns was so far from square it was ridiculous. He was standing about a metre and a half to the right of the ruck. Buderus ran straight at him but no penalty eventuated. Ridiculous.

BUT, to say dummy half scoots are dead is equally ridiculous.

Yeah I guess I realised it was hyperbole, so I dunno why I put that last bit in. I guess I didn't want too look like a biased Tiger totally agreeing with you!

Yeah i agree with you guys about it. A number of times this year Corey Hughes has ran from dummy half at a marker who is not square and he rarely ever picks up a penalty for it. In saying that, the game can't be played out of dummy half, which is what seems to happen when the forward dives at the feet of the defender. It would be good for more penalties to go when players are not square, but in turn they should give tacklers a bit more room to hold down (not too much, but just a bit more IMO) so the whole game isn't played from dummy half.

Yep, fair point but my point was all teams cop it. PJ, Luke Priddis,Berrigan and Cam Smith just to name a few who are also affected by off side defences.

That was one of the strength of the Eels last year. It's essentially the same team and they weren't doing too well at the start of the year. I wonder if that's one of the contributing factors. Ever since JT came in during that 9 match winning streak we seem to shift the ball alot more.

Good I hope Quick play the balls and dummy half scoots are dead, because there a total blight on rugby league. Its not part of rugby league. I'd much rather see someone like Shane Webcke strugling in tackles, busting to get metres than some crap winger run out from dummy half, fall to his knees, get the other team running back while another back comes in and does the same thing. I remember reading an article where Murray and Raper were complaining about how the game has changed this year with slower play the balls and its effected little men around the ruck. I thought at the time it was excellent. If you want to win the premiership coach your forwards to fight for metres and spread the ball instead of building your game around weak dummy half running.

Agreed I want to see the ball going from side to side with clever 1/2 back play not run tackle run tackle run tackle run tackle, kick for the in goal!

Farah ? Who the f**k is Farah ? Top 3 dummy half runners ?

Go execute yourself ffs. Craig Wing is STILL the best at Dummy Half Running ... and Uncle Wayne will prove it next year

EDIT : Ive Said too much. Yes this Farah person is obviously great

Since addressed earlier in the season the ref's have let it go on.

No use complaining now - will probably be worse through the entire finals series.

Statistically the best attacking hooker in the game;-)

20 games 5 tries 12 try assists 26 offloads 9 linebreaks 8 linebreak assists

I think he is first in every category apart from tries scored + offloads. As an attacking whiz, only Priddis and Smith come close. That's not to say that Smith + Buderus are not overall better payers than Farah.

Say what you want about the rest of our gimps, but Farah should be immune from critcisim.

exactly right, cheap dummy half metres are boring to watch. Buggered why it has taken this long for the NRL to realise it. A slower play the ball = more expansive game

The top attacking team scores a mere 608 points and that's a cause to celebrate the re-emergence of expansive football?

The stats suggest that the new interpretation of the rules have been the catalyst for the return to a more physical, intense game.

Expansive football died this year. Intense games returned. They're mutually exclusive. Both hold their own appeal.

Expansive football is not measured by points scored.

Super League played the most boring least expansive football imaginable but racked up heaps of tries.
