Quick question on Style

He wasn't on the bench.

Mitch Rein got the nod, presumably to cover for Dean Young's omission.

As it turned out, we could have done with a utility back on the bench, given the injuries to Morris and Cooper.

4 forwards were backing up and it was lucky we had Rein and the other forwards on the bench to cover for them.

In theory, Rein could come to hooker, Fein to half, Hornby to fullback, Darius to the wing.
I would have liked to see something similar last Sunday. When Morris went off, there was a bot of a mix up out wide on two occasions. One led to Prior getting in Hormby's way and a try to WT. The other was Prior standing upright when he should have been going in low - rsult was him being pushed into touch and we missed a try scoring opportunity. Can't blame Prior, lock forward playing too wide trying to cover the wing.

Much better would have been to see Boyd on the wing, Hornby to fullback and Fien to half.

At least eventually something was done to get Prior back inside, the word went out and Nightingale went to Morris's wing.

Its less disruption to move one player to an unfamiliar position then to move four players from their regular and vital positions to cover a wing spot.

I would normally agree Barry - it was only a wing spot after all. But imo it cost us a two try margin. We conceded a try and failed to get across the line with another. If Boyd or Nightingale were in that position, I believe there would have been at least an eight difference in our favour.

Will it be Style to replace Cooper against the Eels? He is not in the playing list or on the injured list, anyone know what is happening with him?

Off to the coach's box with you then. I like your thinking. We'll leave Bennett at head coach for this week though to see if he can make amends

lol. Not in a million years.

Mate, they switched the flank combination about three times in the second half, that apart from the usual defence/attack switches. IMO, they got it right at end but not before Balmain got to six behind.

I noticed this too. Hornby was forced to defend much deeper than most wingers, particularly Morris due to his lack of pace. At one stage Prior was defending inside him and his lack of mobility, combined with Hornby's depth in defence, was killing us. You're right though, we appearded get on top of the situation in the last 5 - 10 minutes.

I think the less moving of deck chairs the better to lessen the chances of cohesion. prior went to centre for defence & swapped with coops in attack while not ideal under the circumstances worked ok on the day.

That's the way it seemed
Not bad scrambling given the desperation of the Tigers who can be the most dangerous team in the comp if the passes stick
