Quick Question

Firstly, congrats on winning your 1st/16th Premiership, I have really weighed into that discussion so I'm not too sure!

Yes, this is about a player from my club, Manly. But I figured you lot would have the most insight since its probably the Dragons who have the issue with this the most.

A lot of you would claim this as number 16, am I correct? Just wondering what your opinion on Steve Menzies would be then. Would he be the longest serving ONE club player and rightly so..or does that incorrect tag stay with Lockyer?

The NRL said Congrats on the 16th, but refuse to see Beaver as a One clubman. Inconsistency confuses me. Please set me straight.

Congrats again. Dont mean for this to be a troll/argument etc.

I'm always amused when posters here say that this is our first premiership and that we were "formed" in 1999 on the one hand and then on the other say that we haven't won a premiership for 31 years (obviously before last night) - trying to have their cake and eat it too I guess.

For what it's worth I think Beaver is a one club man as far as I'm concerned.

I'm happy with Innaugural being from Wollongong and the St George Originals can claim their 16th if they so wish. Either way

WE ARE PREMIERS !!!!!!!!

As for menzies not being recognised, not his fault rugby league went silly in the 90's and it was decided to merge the crap out of everyone....

I mis-worded my original post. Most games for one club, but still one NRL club player. ESL games don't count towards career games over here.

Okay, okay, just trollin' with ya.

Well although your JV failed (for reasons we won't go into) at least you didn't sell your club for a cool one-million-dollars.

One NRL Club man, and I haven't seen anyone (definitely not in the media!) argue otherwise.

Menzies is definitely a one-clubber. Mergers don't end clubs, they combine them. Therefore their records and stats are also combined.

If Manly supporters want Menzies to be a one club first grader (in Aust), that's their choice.

It seems to me that this is what the Manly club and supporters want.

An NRL.com article recently gave that impression as well.

Menzies, who won 15 caps for the Kangaroos and was a member of their World Cup-winning team in 1995, is the most prolific tryscoring forward in the history of Australia's NRL, with 180 touchdowns in 349 appearances during 16 seasons with Manly.

One club man. Great player and ambassador for the game as well, might I add.

History is always written by the winners
The St George : St George I’llawarra, one premiership : sixteen premierships is a load of crap.
History is actually what has happened and how we interpret it is up to each of us and not some News Ltd dictate from on high
Everything about this competition is a variable except supporter loyalty

So what history are we talking about, The NRL or the ARL or the NSWRL?
Is the South Sydney that was thrown out of the comp the same as the Rusty’s Rabbits that have a totally different constitution? Is the Eastern Suburbs or the Sydney City Roosters. Canterbury-Bankstown or Sydney or Canterbury Bankstown; Manly Warringah Sea Eagles or Northern Eagles or whatever? Seagulls, Titans.

Our history is our history and not the dictate of others. We know the facts; screw the biased and odious opinions of so-called journalists and supporters of lesser clubs

Spot on mate. The team wearing the red V, with the same colours and with the St George emblem has won 16 premierships. End of story
