Not sure if its been already answered but are all the games played during the world cup going to be considerd as test matches. And will Australia play in an away jersey for the irish game at limmerick?

All world cup games are now considered tests.

I doubt the Kangaroos will be playing in an away strip.

Kangaroos are ranked higher, therefore they are considered the home side.

Ireland would be the ones to wear an away strip

It's about time we dropped the Test match description. What differentiates a game between Australia and New Zealand from one between Scotland and Ireland? Aren't they both international matches? It's a relic from the past that helps to separate the haves and have nots.

I don't think they should drop the description. All international matches played under international rules should be tests, therefore games like the warm-ups this year shouldn't be tests.

The warm up games weren't official international matches as they used more than seventeen players or used more than the allowed number of substitutions.

I know that, that's why I said it. But a game between two nations is still an inter-national game isn't it?

Of course they are but why is one international game classed as a Test match but another one isn't if both are played under the same rules and regulations?

The difference is this.

All tests are also internationals. These matches are played by two test nations.

All matches by non-test playing nations (or involving just one test playing nation) are not test matches, they are internationals.

This is the simple yet seemingly quite accurate definition we have used at RLP for differentiating between the games.

All teams since 1954 declared World Cup games as tests, except for Australia, who finally declared them (and all previous WC games they played) as tests in 1995.

All International games and test matches are played under the same rules. International fixtures that aren't tests have been officially recognised by the RLIF.

Hence why World Cup warm up games aren't declared as internationals or tests, as they aren't officially recognised or declared.

The whole process is needlessly complicated, but given the eligibility criteria, it's also very consistent with how the RLIF function nowadays it seems.

An international played under the rules of the governing body, regardless of who it's between, are all equal in my eyes. Just more rubbish to keep some nations above others.

The alternate Irish strip looked better than their main strip!
I'd suggest the Irish stick with that look from now on!(mainly white with emerald green)
