How in the serious f**k can someone not know who Philep Seymour Hoffman is? I mean sure you can forget somebody winning an oscar for best actor.... but the man introduced the term "shart" into pop culture!

Terrible waste of talent, can't think of a bad movie he's ever been in.

Anyone who is a serious film buff who watches films from the past 20 years knows this guy.

Film buff or not he should be well known. Been in some absolute classic movies, many of which made classic by his performances.

Look it's just that he didn't star in any movies I watched... that's all.

He had plenty of screen time in the big Lebowski which you have seen.

This is going to be a callous and nasty post, and I say so f**king what.

Some famous actor or musician dies from a drug overdose and everyone boo hoos and say "he/she was a great person....oh what a waste of talent...he/she will be remembered as the best" and so on.

The 19 year old unemployed nobody boy/girl from down the road dies of a drug overdose and everyone says "What a f**king no-hoper....deserved to die...dumb parents made him/her that way" and so on.

Therein lies the difference. A famous person is practically exonerated of their actions and made a hero while the nobody and their family and associates are ridiculed.

The trouble is the famous person had the greatest opportunity to make their life rich and fulfilled. They f**ked up in way bigger than the nobody could have ever imagined.

Stop making heroes of f**kwits regardless of who they are.

We say what a waste of talent because Phillip Seymour Hoffman had, shock horror, a lot of talent,

People don't care about the unemployed nobody you speak of because, shock horror, they offer nothing to society that will be missed

Bingo.
I was going to post something very similar.
These Celebraties/actors etc have it all ,fame fortune a glamour lifestyle ,yet are stupid enough to put needles in their arms.

Boo f**king hoo.

Just because he was famous does not exonerate him from being another DRUGGO who Overdosed.
No sympathy at all.

Thank you for the support.

Some of my favourite celebrities, mainly in the music industry, died too young at their own hand.

Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain come to mind. Did I boo hoo at their passing? No f**king way!! My first thoughts were always "You f**king idiot!".

Here we go again...
Actually, I'm not surprised you haven't heard of him, considering your taste in movies...

Fast & Furious (4th in the series, continuing my F&F marathon tribute to Paul Walker).

I keep forgetting just how great this movie really is as it's kind of in the distant shadow of Fast Five (which I'll be watching tomorrow).

Not a lot going on inside your head, is there?

The reason IMO people reacte to famous drug deaths is because they seemingly have everything yet still need ElephantJuice to overcome there own misery.
People think that a lot of money will solve there problems and are shocked that it only enhances there vulnerabilities.

He's not a hero, he's an actor. He gave people joy yes, he was a talent yes, but it's something that thousands of others could have done. Saying things like 'he's a talent of which we will never see again' is simply false.

But yes, he is a f**king idiot for f**king up like that. Don't have much sympathy for celebrities that gain undeserved millions then waste it on ElephantJuice and kill themselves.

Actors tend to be pretty crazy. In fairness here he became addicted to ElephantJuice (curse you word filter) and alcohol before he was famous but managed to recover. Some people relapse later in life. Considering he went 20 years clean there was probably some trigger event

They don't 'need' it, He could have had all the help he wanted. Plenty of other ways to overcome misery.

People react to famous deaths because the person was famous and people are obsessed with fame and famous people. Like we saw with Paul Walker.
