His past really wasn't that rich? Are you having a laugh , Pete? For 3 years he was practically untouchable. You must be judging only on his origin efforts, because at NRL level I don't think I had seen a more dominant winger in his prime. He carried our entire team on his back for a few years there and was our best prop as well as our best winger and player. Granted that the Bennett era hasn't been kind to him (although he still scores at roughly a try every game, more than just about anyone can say over this period of time), but to downplay his influence before that is criminal and false.

I can only make a rational argument to replace McManus with Sione at this point in the season, and he played for NSW. If Australia doesn't have a selection crisis last year, we don't even have this conversation.

My point is that it's difficult to justify somebody's selections based on form from 2011. Even so, Uate still had flaws in his game and never got them ironed out.

I'm not just singling him out either. Truth be told, I thought your backline was as hot and cold as anything last season and would have found a spot for Sione above all of them.

I can only go off of what I saw last year. Stone is obviously confident in Uate so I hope for his sake (and for the game's sake) he's right and isn't just playing into reputations.

Looking increasingly likely that Randell will miss out and Sione will start on the bench. Means when Clydesdale comes off, Gidley to halfback, Roberts to hooker, Mata'utia/Gagai to fullback.

According to Barry Toohey anyway.

If this is the final 17 with Randell bumped, is there any reason why it won't be a bit more simple than that if Clydesdale is off - Gidley to hooker, Sione to fullback?

If it is purely to give Clydesdale a rest, I 'd think Stone would be more likely to keep minimal disruption to the halves structure unless they are not producing and gives Sione the capacity to inject himself into the game as he sees it...more of a Billy Slater role in attack and this also folds into what we hope Stone is going improve on, the support and second phase play.

Maybe there are reasons for other scenarios to be employed on the day but I'd be happy to see the KISS theory employed in the early rounds, before adding too much complexity to our rotations and disrupting the playing structure and rhythm of the team...unless the circumstances of the game really demanded it

It is but then you'd expect the coach to make those tough calls and not get sucked into the reputation of these players.

I'd pick Sione before the other five if I'm being truthful. I've got a high opinion of him and while the other have their positives, I think they all have bigger flaws than Sione, even at this stage of his career.

Realistically, Uate would have been my pick. Too unreliable, has been living on the past for too long and his past really wasn't that rich to begin with.

I've read some doozy posts in my time but this one just about takes the cake. I think I'll just take it all with a grain of salt. The Broncos loss must have affected big Pete more than we thought it would.

Ok, one for anyone else currently at the game...has the game day entertainment sunk to a new low?

Seriously, I think that just topped the bread

Is it okay to ask this? How are people watching the game if they are overseas? Can someone PM if they know a good site (free or paid) to watch the games online? Much thanks!!

tell you what these Saifini twins are pretty impressive today. Big units. Yates and King been very impressive too. Really like Yates! Our edge defence is pretty poor though. Letting the team down.

Luke Yates is a great prospect. Played the house down as a prop last year, is now playing lock and tearing holes in the Warriors defense at will. Made at least two clean breaks, with his last one being a 40 metre dash for a try

Looks like the team has picked up where it left off last year, which is impressed considering there's a lot of new faces, as well as a new coach

Heading over now, what happened? I think they're doing some 80s themed challenge during main game?

Yates scores his second right on full time. Two warriors went up high on him and he just bumped them straight off and dove over.

41-16 at full time
