Well. Too boring in 1st half, 2nd half was a debacle that shouldn't be mentioned. Needed more points while we were on top.

Warriors were garbage too, we shouldn't be losing to a side that completes 68%. They ran in two tries while Boyd was out there on one leg...

Darius might have a broken leg.
FB is obviously Gidley's best position, which is good.
Waddell is cancer and if he's our starting hooker I have doubts about making the eight, which is bad.

Gagai and Uate are either injured, out of form, or both.
Leilua is a powerful player but doesn't have many football smarts.

Cuthbo and McMinnon went pretty well.
Jimmy Mac should be playing for NSW.

Roberts had a shocker, but it's pretty clear what his ceiling is so can't be too hard on him.

Will be an interesting squad next week with the injuries.

Lord, emo central...

Practically every 50/50 call went the way of the opposition and two of the best attacking players in the side injure themselves out of the contest (with one apparently carrying injuries into the game). I wasn't expecting a walkover but without those two factors I think it would have been a Knights win by 10. Meanwhile on the NRL forum fans of Manly, Melbourne and the Roosters are already going on about why they aren't serious challengers for the Premiership!

Very emo, but I'm used to it now after a loss. Every time we lose it seems Bennett's going to quit .

I thought Uate was great apart from that first try he let in. Absolutely garbage decision to go in 10 or so meters and leave Manu unmarked. Otherwise, he was great under the high ball. Had a quiet game but that was mostly due to the other side being the better target.

Jesus effing Christ, am I the only person who watched the game? Mateo went to the line, took two defenders, and offloaded, which drew in mullo, and by this point the warriors had got three extra players on that side of the field. Gagai went for the intercept, which left aku with four players to mark.

IT WAS NOT. HIS. FAULT.

He looked like he may be carrying a little bit of extra weight when they pulled his jersey up and I don't think he was 100% recovered from his ankle injury.

Unfair to blame that first try on him. Gagai left him with three blokes to cover on his own.

Finally, someone else who saw it

Watching the news, I didn't realize that Gagai went so far in. Completely understand Uate's choice to rush the attacker. Just a case where you have to make the decision to either pressure the guy with the ball or hold back and wait for him to either pass or run the ball.

Uate had no choice but to go in for the tackle, if he stayed on his wing the Warriors had 2 unmarked players and would've held onto the ball and went straight over the line. And Uate got blocked by Johnson too when he went back after Vatuvei if anyone noticed that. He'd be the last one to blame on that right side for that try.

I have no idea how the refs missed that, I was calling for obstruction. If it went to video ref it could have very well been called that way.

Aku and Gagai are injured, they both have clearly been carrying niggles.

Losing 2 key backline members and some soft defence up our middle were the reasons we lost. How the refs let that clear forward pass go from Johnson was baffling and essentially put the final nail in the game

Was disappointing but hardly a loss to get too worked up about

Our season is fast going down the gurgler with injuries and the origin period.

Just when I thought we had been going well with injuries (scott and buderus although big losses are nothing compared to previous years) we are now looking like we do every year, injuries galore. Every damn year.

We did not surrender. Had Uate and Boyd stayed on field I am confident we would have gone on with it. To the team injury toll obssessed please harden up. It is not a conspiracy. It is not karma. Look at the Tigers FFS! Gids will be fullback. Smith and Scott to return very soon. In short we are fine.we are so close to consistency as we need to be. The injuries were huge. We lost our way. Nothing big.

So I wasn't the only one who noticed that, Aku was clearly denied any chance of getting to Vatuvei thanks to Johnson. Just another dud decision today.

I actually disagree with some of those points.

Even if Waddell is our starting hooker, I think our squad is good enough to make the 8.

Leilua, to me, seems like a smart player. He knows how to set up his winger and his defense is pretty good as well. He does have some silly penalties in him but he's only 21.

Roberts did not have a shocker. When we were on top in the second half, he was making some good runs and it wasn't his fault that he dropped the Snowden pass. I think he is really talented and will go on to be a really good first grade halfback. Maybe, just maybe, even play rep.

Jimmy is amazing though.

I'm not too sure why the Knights game plan this year for the right edge attack is to always turn it inside for Rochow, instead going out wide to Gagai and Uate. What happened to Mullen throwing the left to right pass to Gagai?
Mullen wasted two kicks today instead of going through the hands to that side.
Everytime Boyd goes down that side this season he always goes himself instead of passing it.

Why change what work so well last season?

Gagai and Uate both seem well below their best and off the pace as well. Gagai at the end of last season and before he got injured this year would race through on every kick Mullen would put up and make it a contest. Dont think he has done that since he came back from injury.

Mullen is obviously aware of this hence we are not seeing the 'get early ball to Dane and Aku and they will do the rest' plan at the moment.

I predict Mullen will struggle with Waddell at hooker full time.

Yesterday he had the Warriors defence right in his face because the ball takes 10 minutes to be delivered.

Against a better team it will be ugly.

I noticed this as well. With Waddell in the team Mullen needs to go deeper for the kick. I was actually very impressed with Gidley's service out of dummy half yesterday. He threw plenty of bullet passes that hit the mark.

I've noticed this basically every time Waddell has played. His service was good in round 1, but it's been terrible since then. Even last week against the Bulldogs we lost a lot when Waddell came on for Gids. I hope when Bedsy comes back that's the last we see of Waddell. I think our best way forward for the rest of the year is #9 Gids #14 Bedsy. Next year I would go #9 Gids #14 Clysdale to get him ready to take over when Gids retires. I watched him yesterday in the NYC. The kid has serious talent.

I was surprised we went away from the game plan that worked so well against the Bulldogs. No frills sort of stuff, kick to the corners and chase in a straight line. We seemed to be obsessed with putting the ball in the air. That's fine if there's a decent chase, but most of the time there wasn't.
