It seems like Josh Mantellato is a good chance of playing instead of Mata'utia

Do you know if it's because Pete has an injury, or Bennett simply prefers Mantellato? His goal kicking might have had something to do with it. From the few games I've seen he seems a good kicker.

I'd like to see mantellato given a run. He's tall and rangy and very safe under the high ball. And a fantastic goal kicker as already mentioned.

I don't rate Pete at all. Not one bit

Neither do I, based on what I've seen.

Mantellato sounds like a huge dude it'll be interesting to see him play.

196cm. Match him up against Merritt and it will be plain to see why Merritt wasn't picked for origin

I think Bennett is just leaning towards Mantellato, I'm not saying he will play but it seems to be highly likely at this point.

Josh is an absolute giant, he's got no beef on him at all, he's nothing but a string bean but he's extremely tall and rangy and a complete professional. He's that tall it's almost awkward to watch him on the wing.

He was playing for Wyong at fullback and got selected to represent Italy in the 2011 WC qualifying tournament, in those games he took everybody by surprise and was the main reason Italy won with all the points his scored. We signed him up and he was the highest point scorer in the NSW Cup last year in his first year and won winger of the year with 16 tries and 122/144 goals, he went on a huge goal kicking streak of 20 or 30 something, if he was a regular first grader he'd be known as probably the best goal kicker the game's seen, he's unbelievable with the boot and the height and power he kicks his goals with is just incredible. He had one game this year where he missed nearly all but he hasn't gone a game in his career that I know of where he doesn't kick at least 90% of the goals, he's constantly going on long streaks.

His height gives him a huge advantage in the air and also helps to wrap up his smaller opposition and take them down easily. The boys are always kicking to him and it's pretty rare that he doesn't take the ball on the full to score. He's outplayed pretty much every winger he's come up against and he was tipped to debut last year but I think he was injured. The Sharks were after him at the end of last year too, I don't know what happened with that. He was on fire at the end of last year going into the finals but he broke his arm in our last regular game and we lost the next match I think.

He's thriving on being in the NRL squad for the first time this year too, Bennett put him up and it's been said that he's really making the most of it and loving being coached by such highly regarded people since he's spent all his career in the lower grades. I think he's 25 or something now. I hope he makes his debut and gets his name out there because he's been not only our best but the NSW Cup's best for the last year and a half now and he's a great guy from what I've seen so I'd be really happy for him to finally get his shot.

Here's a video of him from last year, you just have to look at him standing next to our players to realise just how massive he is lol

That video is also a little bit of an insight of how brilliant Kev has become at fullback over the last year that I don't think many people are too aware of, his playmaking skills near the line is flawless, he can do it just as well as Darius and he's 10 times more dangerous with his speed and footwork everywhere else on the field.

That leap was nice! And the runaway try showed some pace with Bryson Goodwin and another winger who couldn't catch him.

The rest was mostly fall over the line stuff, but with Kev setting him up, so already there's a comfortable connection there. Hope he does play now!

Yeah it only showed a few of his 16 tries from last year but he does score a fair share from out jumping his opposition and he definitely does has some pace. His only downfall is his lack of actual width and meat on him, he does occasionally get pushed back in tackles by stronger, heavier guys but he's usually pretty good at using his height and not letting many get to him. I'd love for him to be a bit more aggressive in games too.

Him and Kev are good mates and have played alot of footy together in the past year or 2, they have a great combo (but the same could be said about Mata'utia I guess)

Yeah Kev would be a fantastic long-term option at fullback, no doubt. He can definitely ball play at the line well, he's not just a speed machine.

In terms of value for money I'd rather have Kev on the books than Darius, 100%. He would get better and better in first grade and we'd have a stack of cash to spend elsewhere. But it's obviously not going to happen.

Also I rate Mantellato too. I've never seen him have a bad game. To me he's a little McManus-like in that he's necessarily the fastest or strongest going around, but uses what he has very effectively. He plays smart football, I think, which is a handy attribute for a winger who is constantly dealing with high pressure and tricky decisions. He's so dangerous from kicks that you could probably rely on him for a significant season try tally just from bombing to his side regularly. A lot of outside backs in the comp wouldn't stand a chance.

Kev at fullback might just make it even harder for us to let him go. If he had a bkinder against Souths then it really just gets more difficult to let him leave from a supporter's perspective. I hope the Pennies sign him cos he would be perfect in one of the most exciting young backlines in a while out that way. Moylan is going to be special.

Just heard on 9 news Josh Reynolds has made the bench for the blues. I guess that means Sutton will be playing on Saturday.

We need to throw our complete support behind Kev. It's hard to ask him to stick around playing in and out of first grade for another two years, but we have to guarantee him he's our first choice for any back line position and guarantee him the fullback position when Boyd leaves. He's far too valuable to lose and we'll regret it in years to come.

As for Mantellato, K-Man summed it up perfectly, he's McManus-like and I really hope he gets a late swap with Pete. I'm a fan of him, but I really do think we need to give Mantellato a chance after the season he had last year. Mantellato has a lot of potential and is another player we need to hold on to however possible. It does suck to see quality players not being able to get a start over players like Uate who this year has been hot and cold.

Raiders have Edric Lee who is like an NBA player. Would be fun watching Eric Lee and Mantellato go for bombs. Then put Matt Utai somewhere around there.
