IMO Channel Nine should shell out and lure Warren Boland away from the ABC, if they can.

He's a great broadcaster on both radio and television and has plenty of knowledge about the game - been commentating on Qld Cup for years and he isn't a Broncos fan. Definitely the premier rugby league caller from Queensland, IMO.

Yep and David Wright (former Queensland/Australia prop) isn't too bad either ... love his enthusiasm. The bloke is rich enough ... he probably does it more for love than money.

Definitely does it for the love of it, but we can only hope he replaces the "stars" that Channel Nine dredge up.

More journalists, less former players - that's the only way you are going to get a less biased and more informative call.

*Though I must admit several of the former players such as Sterlo usually do a good job with the commentating these days. Just pllleeease no more Ikin, Walters, Tallis, Johns, Gasnier et al.*

Agree heavily with you miccle! Those commentators are superb and I'd rather them then Ikin or Walters any day of the week. I also agree with your point on journalists however I'd begin to wonder if they'd sit their analysing the game rather than adding to the atmosphere.

Nah, I'd push JUST the commentating angle with a small emphasis on analysing, but not doing too much of that during play.

Picture it - two respected league journos who CAN call the game and know their stuff, have a past player or two on the sidelines and cross to them half a dozen times a game for their little spiel and involve them all in the post and pre-match shows.

Vossy and Rabs are both fantastic callers who know their stuff, know the industry and call the game well and they both also add to the atmosphere very well.

I'd love to have a core team of those two plus Warren Boland and maybe even Sterlo. Team it up with a couple of the past players for sideline comments and that's a perfect mix imo.

On a side note, can someone put dazza62 on suicide watch? First Hunt is voted as the best fullback in the game by his peers and then he wins man of the match.

He is conspicuous by his absence in this thread. He is usually on here when Hunt stuffs up or the Broncos lose.

Does it surprise anyone that cutie gets M.O.M in any game that Ikin is covering.
We will see what the Great cutie can do without locky to hold his hand...
Same as he has other times Locky was out....Zilch

But we wont see the Broncos have 50 and 60 put on us like the "mighty" cowboys did minus Thurston. Did the Cowboys go back to the sandpit and learn how to tackle?
What did Bowen do without Thurston holding his hand? Sweet F all

Dodged quite a few defenders and scored a try thank you very much.

'Holding his hand' ffs he's a fullback he has a combination with the halfback and he played his heart out.

Just because Dazza is attacking Hunt doesn't mean you have to bring Bowen into it.

A horse race caller - Alan ??? - called a Broncos game one night and was excellent. Quentin Hull on the ABC is a journalist as is Gerry Collins - both of them make excellent comments about the game.

Compare those guys to Mark Geyer and Wendall Sailor who have had guest spots ... both absolutely hopeless.

Give it in, the players are the best judge of their peers and they voted for Hunt as the best player in the game with 46% of the vote compared to just 20% for Bowen. I know it must sting but chin up buddy.

And Lockyer and Hunt dont have a combo happening? FMD
Its ok for toss pot Dazza to say Hunt will do Zilch minus Lockyer, but when i say it...ohhh noo....not Matty Bowen!
When they played the Chooks they were embarrsied....64 points put on the Cowboys.
Played the Eels...had 44 put on them.
Bowen is supposed to be some great playmaker, but he was invisible in those games...oh apart from a meaningless try or two vs the chooks

Yes it does as Dazza always pits Bowen up against Hunt. The only reason he continually tears down Hunt is because he can't stand the fact that Hunt is continually referred to as the best fullback in the game and selected over him for Qld and Aus. It's old and tired, he's one of the sadest posters on this board.

And what does that have to do with Hunt?
Bowen is a fullback, our defence is what is lacking in our game.

What do you expect Bowen to be able to make every tackle like some front rower?

For the record Dazza, shut up,you have zero credibility.

When Lockyer went off the field,Hunt started to come into the line a lot more and tried to play make a bit more to try and fill in the loss of Lockyer.

This has been shown in all games when Lockyer goes off the field injured.

:iwstupid:

Hunt was again superb last night. Had a hand in three of the four tries in the first half, while Bowen contributed with, what, three knock ons?

Look, Bowen is an outstanding attacking player but hearing everyone whinging constantly about Karmichael is getting so tiresome.

Is Bowen a better attacking player than Hunt? Undoubtedly - he's the best in the competition IMO.

Is Bowen a better defender - cod even IMO.

Is Bowen better under the high ball? No.

Is Bowen a better playmaker? No.

Is Bowen as consistent? He goes MIA several times each year.

Hunt has never put a foot out of place and I honestly can't remember him playing a bad game for Brisbane, Qld or Australia.

Scary thing is, this kid is four years younger than Bowen too. Imagine how great Hunt will be when he's 25! =P~

To be honest I'm sick of them getting compared, they're totally different types of fullbacks.

All credibility just went out the window... I have seen Bowen on many occassions step up to the playmaking role & win games ... give me one example of cutie doing something
For the record Dazza, shut up,you have zero credibility
.
For the record ..go & drink a litre of draino ...
If i don't like some overated kiwi ,who has very little to offer without locky ..then i will say it
We will see what the great cutie does in the next few weeks without locky making the plays .....

locky will be retired then & unless the broncos have another playmaker to hold cuties hand he will be shown up as ordinary.

& cowgirl you better buy 2 litres of draino in case one isn't enough.

Who is a better judge of a players ability, dazza or Hunt's fellow players who have voted him as the best fullback in the game with over 2 times the votes of Bowen. Or how about the Queensland selectors that pick him over Bowen or what about the Australian selectors who again pick him over Bowen. I don't need to talk up Hunt, every player and person involved in league, all of whom have far more credibility than you or I rate the bloke and most rate him over Bowen. Time to crawl back under your bridge troll.
