My missus tripped the RCD while I was watching the game that I had IQd. I was only 15 min in and when I got the power back on it wouldnt play

Universe must have been protecting me from what was obviously a horror show

The refs certainly weren't kind to us but our attitude was nowhere near good enough

Agreed but once Manly knew they could get away with it, they milked the situation perfectly.

It's a self fulfilling prophecy, the refs assume that some clubs are better getting off their line such as Manly, so if they break early, the refs don't think twice, if Newcastle do it, the refs blow a penalty and the team become more hesitant, making the situation worse.

I was thinking Mullen may have been injured. I rarely saw him in around the ruck and we needed him there.
He went out wide when Gagai went off but so did Scott.

This is the worst i've seen from players this good in recent memory. If we cant get our sh*t together with these players, we've got no hope. Some of our blokes did'nt even look interested or committed.

Here's what I reckon - Snowden, Costigan and Quinn dont have a heart between them. Uate's defence has'nt improved at all. Boyd is still a cat. Gidley's still not a halfback. We really need Bedsy back. We'll be fu**ed without Gagai and Mason. Scott and Smith will probably carry us for the whole season.

Yeah, im over the Knights already. Im sick of thinking every year will be the year. What makes it worse is that this year theres no excuse.

The Watmough try was one of the most inept pieces of defence I've ever seen, Boyd had to cover Stewart on the inside, Uate's obvious play was to take Watmough especially with no one on Watmough's outside Uate took no one and in the end was running alongside Watmough, was embarrassing to watch

I love watching the bloke play, he is excitement personified most weeks, but you do have to wonder about the net effect of his play vs. mcmanus's net effect.

I suspect that McManus has a better for and against each year for less than half the price.

The only positive I am clinging to is that in 2001 we got pumped bad by Brisbane in brisbane in a diabolical display and we came good.

I am hoping this is an aberration.

Bennett will be scratching his head.

Win by 32 then lose by 32... unbelievable. Losing Waddell didn't help preparation but jeez we were terrible. Picked up some injuries as well of course.

Wonder if we can bounce back against the Cowboys...

No excuse for what? The team we have is no match for the top 4 teams in the comp. we don't have the winning culture nor the calibre if players those teams have. We could finish anywhere from 5th-12th, won't matter where we finish at the end of the day though.

"We need to be consistent, we are starting to win that battle at training now we need it in the games," Bennett said.

We lost the plot. Seems to be endemic that we tend to do that. Those that didn't lose the plot were the ones that haven't been around long enough to have caught that bug.
Way too early to be thinking of major team changes. That will fix nothing.

Another year. Another trip to Brookie to get bashed by the Eagles. Don't know why we expected any different it happens every year.

KOTW.

Scott - 3
Smith - 2
Ummm f**k McManus 1 because I can't remember him doing anything really bad unlike everyone else.

Costigan should be dropped permanately. Guy is f**king shit.

Uate's d was absymal. Whenever he gets a winger as big or bigger he gets owned.

Kidley still not a halfback.

Manly were pretty good tho I thought particularly in defence.

Did you watch Costigan play last week? He was tough as nails and tried to lead by example.

We came crashing back to earth out there tonight.
Gave away too many penalties and weight of posession killed us.

We've undone our good start to the season. Back to the old drawing board as they say in the classics. Very disappointed with our performance to say the least. Glad I ended up not going down there. Would've been a long trip home.

Costigan may have played ok last week but how many decent games has he played for us? Maybe 3 in what, 30? Also look at the forward pack he was up against. I would'nt exactly call them top class, or even NRL class. Even today, Manly were missing G.Stewart and King. Even a 35 year old Joe Galuvao was steam rolling Costigan and Snowden.

I dont think theres much of a case to say im being harsh on Costigan, he's been a repeat offender ever since he's been here and should be treated accordingly. Snowden aint much better. My 11 year old son kept saying to me "why does Snowden always run so slowly" and "he does'nt do much does he Dad".

The boys looked slow. With the exception of big willie they were generally out-muscled. Getting Bedsy back in a couple of weeks will at least get the big men organised and help the halves with direction etc because they got thoroughly outplayed too. Manly kicked and chased well to Uate, gave him no chance to wind up at them and drove him around a bit. On the other hand Manly's back three had a pretty cushy night.

At the end of the day they are best forgetting everything about that game except that it wasn't good enough on any level. Last week was good, this week was s**t. It's not the end of the world.

Kids has been abysmal tonight

Kids is an abysmal halfback. Always has been, always will be.

For what we pay him he will never ever be worth it because he's just not a halfback. Experience can be incredibly overrated in rugby league - does a lack of it hold back Cherry-Evans? Of course not. We'd be a better team with about half the halfbacks in the comp ahead of Gids.

I like Gids as a team man, but he's simply not good enough to be a playmaker.

Just finished watching and all I can say is "aww sh!t"

Really impressed with our 1st half defence with so much play and penalties against us, but 2nd half went to crap when we couldn't find a way through their line. Losing Gagai was a huge blow as I feel we would've had a much better chance scoring down that side with him (especially after Matai went off).

Hopefully our injuries aren't too bad and we have a full strength side back in a few weeks.

Make the top 8 and anything is possible, but I can't see us matching it with the top 3/4 teams this year.
