Be interesting to see who drops off if Gidley comes back.

Would have to be gower right cant really see wayne carrying 2 outside backs on the bench unless he drops Roberts and plays Gidley or gower at 7 which I cant see either considering he is the long term 7.

God damn you're thick!! Your second favourite team was playing your favourite team on the weekend and you clearly didn't watch the game . If you did, you would have seen Bennett drop Roberts to the bench and replaced by Gower when the game was on the line. For more evidence, Bennett in the post match press conference said that he was happy with dropping Roberts as he felt Roberts may not have allowed for the late trys we scored.

lol forgot about him

Well, Tyrone has his work cut out for him then

Every time Ty's spot has been threatened he has backed it up with good play.

Kinda expecting the same. Its a shame that he needs to be reminded of his mortality.

What happens to Roberts next year with Dobson in? Is Roberts signed or off contract next year?

We face the same hassle where we'd like to keep back-ups just in case but if they are good enough then they deserve a 1st grade spot somewhere and get picked up by other clubs.

Personally, I think if the profile of the NSW Cup was lifted and we had an increase in salary cap then we might be able to keep more. I'd love to see regular NSW Cup games broadcast. I'd watch them.

I'll back Roberts at halfback til the cows come home over Gower, Gidley or Dobson.

My problem with Tyrone is the same problem I had with Perry. He plays his guts out when his job is on the line, but goes missing too often when things are easy in his world.

I don't think Gower has a full eighty in him, so Roberts is safe for now. It'll be interesting to see if he can hold onto his spot with a more traditional halfback at the club.

I agree but Tyrone needs to make the opposition defensive line have to think a bit harder and make a few more decisions when he has the ball in hand.

From what I have seen from Gower so far, is that he offers the team more in terms of organisation. Roberts impresses me with his individual abilities, such as his show and go, his ability to get repeat sets and also his improving defense etc. However I'm not seeing a lot from him as far as organising the team goes and playing to different structures. He hasn't played a lot at halfback for the knights so far, but Gower does appear to organise the team at a better level than Roberts. As hopeless as Dureau was for the knights, he did allow the team to play to a good structure and he complemented Mullen's game because of it. I'd love to see Gower continue to improve and to offer the team something similar.

Roberts has a very limited game IMO. No kicking, ordinary passing, handy running, solid little defender. Couldn't organise himself out of a paper bag. Mullen carries him.

Saw him compared to Daniel Mortimer which I think is right on the money. His future could turn out similarly (bench hooker).

I think we should be aiming higher.
Bennett wanting Wallace (personally see that as a sideways move) and settling for Dobson is a step in the right direction.

Gower is our best bet for scraping into the finals this year though.

I'm with slotmachine. What does Roberts really offer aside from his running game and some unreliable goal-kicking?

But look where all of our tries are scored. >80% of them would be scored with 3m of the sideline.

Not sure what the point is being said here. All the good goal kickers which have far higher percentages kick goals regularly from the side line.

Roberts is not in this class.

The point was what has Gower done to show that he is a better option than Roberts? And the answer to me at least it very little. Nobody is saying that Roberts is our long-term 7, just that we don't have anybody who has proven they are a better option.

People have talked about Gower's organisational skills, but we haven't looked any better with him on the field than we have Roberts.

Roberts is like someone who has finished his apprenticeship but isn't ready to run his own business yet. He'll get there but possibly not with us.
Gower looked good last week playing with Buderus out there. He can give us his experience and plays we don't expect. We just need to expect the unexpected. I don't think he can last a full 80 however (yet).

Watched Dobson against Wigan last night. He is class. Clearly a better player than Roberts. I think the writing may be on the wall for Tyrone. Gower has to be half for the remainder of the year. It actually frustrates me he was not pushed to 7 earlier last Friday. In ten minutes he turned the match.

Can Dobson kick goals?

Our GK situation is starting to concern me if Gids is our only real option as he will more than likely spend time off the field next year if he is indeed going to be moved permanently into the hooker rotation.
