We just need another bloke out there who can create things. It's supposed to be Boyd, but he does f**k all. It was supposed to be Gids, too... but it looks like Wayne might have him figured out now, too. Tyrone isn't consistently there yet either, although he has certainly shown he can do it in the past.

I think we need to make the finals and get some more big match experience. I think if we can walk away from this season with a couple of finals matches and the improvement I've already seen this year... then I could be pretty happy with that and be excited about the next season. Onward and upward...

We just don't have enough points in us to beat the better sides. Simple. We're not clinical enough of the time in the attacking zone. Defence is pretty good although Smith should never have scored his try. We can definitely compete with the better sides but we just can't get over them.

Shit. We need to start finding ways to score tries when we get opportunities in the opponents 20. We just seem to waste so many chances with nothing plays. That comes back to bite us. If we scored more often the opposition will lose confidence, not gain it through keeping us out.

I said the same in another thread. We either don't have enough game-breakers in the team or we lack a genuine organiser.

Some of our players seriously get shit for brains when we need a cool head the most.

We have a genuine organiser in Gower. I couldn't give a f#ck about the future, I care about now so Roberts can go. Mullo can't do it all and we haven't even tried Gower in the 7 yet but he is a proven performer.

Tyrone has had enough chances to show that he's good for one game a month.

I know Gids tries hard but IMO Gower is far more polished and is a better option. I can't bare to watch half the time when Gids goes into dummy half

Get some new glasses. YOU MIGHT NOT SEE HALF THE TIME.

Gidley is so lols. He makes some decent runs then he throws a pass that a 10 year old could just about throw better. How good was that pass to the ground (intended for Mullen) on the last that basically f**ked up our entire set?

Learn to quote, dunce.

Gidley has been ordinary for so long, I'm starting to forget what he was like when he was actually good for us. Put him out to pasture already.

Incredibly shit, soft play from us to let in that try just before halftime. Mullen should slap himself for giving Melbourne that try with that terrible nothing doing kick. Very, very poor of us to basically throw away 39 minutes of domination with that last minute effort before halftime.

Thankfully Smith misses the easy conversion. 4 point lead isn't much, hope we hold on.

I still find myself thinking this far too often when it comes to Mullen's courteous chip-bombs from too far out to have a decent chase. He just seems to not have a big bomb in his game and it really costs us sometimes.

On this occasion that one kick ruined 39 minutes of football, as you said, and we went to half time looking over our shoulders.

just tackles him without the ball somehow no sin bin

And I'm assuming this precedent will now completely go out the window in the finals due the furore over this decision. But we are the team that suffers from the pathetic referees not having the guts to just say "that's what the sin bin is for, you have to go".

You just knew they wouldn't put him in the bin, you knew we would take the 2 points and not score any more, and you know the Storm would lift on the back of their fortune and kick on for the win.

It reminded me in a different way of how the Roosters realised they could just give away penalty after penalty on their line - as long as they didn't concede a try they didn't care, the refs refused to bin anyone and we blinked first.

Funny how in 2 recent matches where our higher-ranked opponents have given away a mountain of penalties (ones they deserved to be punished for) or committed a blatant professional foul and got away with it, they've both gone on to win the game. Good teams are playing the refs for fools. When giving away penalties becomes a tactic, you have to do something about it. They're just too gutless to do it.

Refereeing is destroying my enjoyment for the game. I'm just not as passionate as I used to be.

You can't have that much possession in good field position and struggle so much to create point scoring chances. We smashed Melbourne in defence, our backs shat on theirs and I reckon our forwards did the same so whats the problem?. We look more likely to score from outside the opposition 20 which means that our playmakers struggle to create chances and Mullo is the only player teams fear.

I'll be shocked if Gower isn't in the 7 next week. Him not being there is whats stopping us from going to the next level. Leadership, class, composure, experience, direction and structure. That's what he brings and that's what we need, simple as that. We have everything else covered.

Seriously, you can't blame the team for today, the refs got played once again by Melbourne.

We never got a quick play the ball because the Storm were wrestling and lying in the tackle constantly. I reckon the refs gave 3 penalties in the first quarter of both halves and then let they get away with anything from then on. The storm knew the refs would give up trying to police this aspect and they did.

They got away with never getting back the 10 and the refs lost interest in policing that aspect.

It's the refs total lack of consistency and their passiveness in the face of obvious storm tactics.

The storms first try came off two clear knock ones which were so obvious as to be farcical.

Everyone including Bellamy thought Cronks should have went and that should be enough to see both refs dropped for next week but helps us nought. Adding insult to injury, Cronk kicks for Slater to score, of which Slater was infront of the kicker again.

Newcastle will never be able to compete with the likes of Melbourne whilst ever the refs are gamed so totally by the Storm.

Look at the joey pass called forward, there was no chance in hell it was forward, but the refs got it wrong and we lost a good chance, I saw 3-4 passes from Smith that were highly questionable but not a word said.

The refs are just reffing the Storm on reputation, not what they do on the field.

It was nice to see Bennett call out the obvious tactics of the Storm and he should go further and publicly state that if teams have to game the system to win then so be it, he will get on board.

Could not be prouder of the boys today. Melbourne would have won the Grand Final on the back of their D today. We are much more deserving than the Bulldogs or Cronulla of a top eight berth. We are a better side than either. NRL is becoming a farce with the refereeing blunders. Cronk is a cheat. What a joke that non binning was. The whole comp saw today that we are are a finals side.

This. I feel the same way, you just know that the refs will squib the tough calls against the favoured teams.

A simple question, if Slater was taken out in the similar position by a knight would they have gone to the bin. Its a minted certainty.

You just know that the likes of Melbourne are going to get a leg up at some point.

We can never rely on the same benefit.

The Storm defense benefits from being set before the ptb. Their monstering in the tackle just never allows a quick ptb. Very easy to defend well when you are setting the timing.

They knew they would wear down the refs eventually and did. It's so transparently obvious and yet they get away with it time after time.
